I guess it all comes down to what you consider elite.

I guess I don't consider 51% completion percentage and 75 passer rating for the best QBs to be "elite."

Wait is this really that big of a deal? Of course I'm only limited to my own experience but my QBs rated around 75 usually have well over 100 passer rating.

That's the thing -- QBs rated 80+ who usually have at least 90 passer rating suddenly were struggling to complete half their passes. Across the league, you could basically subtract 15-25 points from the previous year's passer rating. Something unexplained happened with the code in our league.

We assume that part of it had to do with the implementation of the under pressure code and overbalance of elite DL versus OL. We also had a general lack of talent at WR. This past draft will go a long way to figure out what influenced what. But in general, the changes were so noticeable we really had no explanation about what was going on.

Maybe you should have explained it like that, instead of being a ****.

Maybe people should read a full thread that went on for months with many posts full of examples and detailed league statistics before jumping into it.

This game is a great example of many of the problems with the passing game and may hopefully help shed light on some of its issues.

*The Oakland QB's stat-line: 44/68, 486yds, 3td, 3int, sacked 3 times.
They literally ran the ball once all game. I keyed my defense in on the pass and played pass defense every play. Play in and play out the WR's catch passes in tight man coverage against guys with high punish receiver stats. The QB consistently threw accurate passes into tight coverage with defenders hanging off him. Not sure what you can do against this, I knew exactly what he was going to do, but with the RNG it didn't matter.

*Baltimore QB stat-line: 13/30, 248 yds, 2td, 3int, sacked 8 times
We kept the offense somewhat balanced early on with run+pass, though neither were very successful against the constant blitz. Oakland literally blitzed every play and I knew it, but I couldn't stop it. My QB panics and gets phantom sacked multiple times. My very good Offensive line is consistently incapable of blocking much less talented pass rushers, and my QB even got sacked 3 times by a slow CB with 18 pass rush. When the pressure got close my QB couldn't throw at all accurately and would miss open guys regularly. With maxed out Field Vision he still somehow couldn't spot the open guys even when staring at that side of the field.

*The worst part is, that in my opinion Baltimore's QB is a little better, but watching the game you would think it was Tom Brady against Brian Hoyer.

I suppose you could say I was out-gameplanned, but man.... If I know exactly what you're gonna do and put everything into that and still can't stop it....it just doesn't feel right.(It would be one thing if the opposing players were much more talented than mine, but we were pretty closely matched in alot of ways.)

To be honest, I have a QB whos 87 overall. and a QB whos 70 overall. Last game I started the 70 overall and my offense scored more pts then ever versus a very very solid defense.

My 87 QB is suppose to be really good but hes just stupid and throws in double coverage when there are guys wide open. So basically, having a good QB is almost useless.

I agree with this. Defensive gameplanning is really easy right now. You blitz every single play because it it's run, you have players going to the backfield, and if it's a pass, you're going to force the QB to make mistakes. Since the under pressure code is so unbalanced right now, you might as well send 5, 6, or 7 players every play because there is little chance that the opposing team will "take advantage" of the aggressive defense.

Looking at the QBs in your league that did well (positive TD:INT ratio, high QBR, good completion percentage), it looks like most of them had a accuracy of well over 90 and most of those most having an accuracy rating of 98-100. It makes me wonder how those other QB attributes are used. I've seen enough to suggest that high FOV doesn't make a difference and, at worst, may be a hindrance. I'm not sure what passing release does because of all the knockdowns that happen 30 yards outside of the play.

I am holding out hope that look off defense does...something.

Quick edit: I don't think it invalidates this entire thread, but I recent re-weighted my QBs (see thread here: http://mfn19.myfootballnow.com/community/3/1287?page=0&x=1af4p9&y=464#7569), and it dropped my 80+ QB down to 70. This goes a lot to explain my QB's problems, but it doesn't explain the issues with the whole league.
