Unhappy Players

.........so......I went to re-do contracts for my team and got this message from one of them..

I can't renegotiate with him or anything? I HAVE to trade him or let his contract run out?

He's rotated in as a starter and has other roles, so its not like he's not getting any playing time.

Questions:
- Why should this player be like this without any reason given?
- Should we not have the power to be able to renegotiate a deal?

Hey Gus,
Had a guy do this to me also. I did want to resign him, so, it was near the end of the season and I started him, let him return kicks, and within a game or two he was back to neutral. I then signed him and immediately put him back to limited duty.

I know this doesn't answer your question, but if you have time in the season, it should work out so you can sign him.

These prima donnas!!

Nope, great answer, just hope I have enough time.

I wish there would also be a message about why a player's attitude is anything less than neutral, even before they refuse to re-sign.

I always sort my team according to their happiness each week or so, just to catch things that may have popped up. I had a rookie who was very unhappy with me because I hadn't played him much. I put him in, gave him more playing time and his outlook changed really quickly. So keeping track of how each player is feeling is pretty important. Especially if you want to keep guys around.

You assume (probably correctly). Couldn't he also have been upset if he was set to a position other than his best? Or not making enough money? Or not starting?

It would be nice to actually be able to see why they are unhappy without having to guess.
