Its kinda hard to say really, but a good way to see if he is a better CB or FS would be to look under change pos/#. I will draft players all the time and put them at another position. Only bad thing is they will have to gain position experience all over

I've often wondered something similar.

If I have a player who is equally good (rated) as both a safety and CB, where should I play him?

I've gone back and forth with this trying to decide which position I think would be better to have a highly rated player at.

I'd be interested to hear some thoughts about this.

I would say it depends on your D. He would fit nice in my system. I like to press, that is his only knock. He is great in man. Based on my roster. He would be C1. But my corners are playing more of a zone due to the lack of man to man combined with some speed. Still, its a lot more variables. But, simply that's a yes I think he could play corner, but maybe more effective a S in a defense that puts him in man a lot. By, blitzing or doubling up on receivers. He has unique skill sets , but not he's not that physical.

I think speed and style of play is a big thing to look at also. Safeties tend to be more zone cover players and dont need that top speed as CB are better one on one and need the speed to keep up with WR's. But it also depends on the style you like your D as for Zone/M2M

If they are equal at both positions I go to their physical build,in the case I would play the lighter player at CB as he will be quicker there, if that's what you're looking for

Let's say I have the stud of all DBs. He's rated 100 at everything. Should I use him as a CB, or FS/SS?

I've read some of the other posts in this thread, and I think the general consensus is that my defensive playcalling would determine where I'd get the most out of him.

I may need to be more in depth with my playcalling selections, etc.

All things equal i value a elite CB higher.

In general traits I associate with DB positions.
Mid speed or better, bigger, zone coverage = Free Safety
Mid speed or better, bigger, run stopping =SS
fast, good acceleration, m2m coverage, less tackling skill = CB

Yeah I think that's the general consensus.
