Hello all. I have a team with 7 qb's on it. I'm looking to cut some, but can you explain the cap cost, savings etc.
Thanks

Each player's contract is made up of two parts - a base amount for each year, and a bonus that is spread over the entire contract. When you cut or trade a player, or if he retires, the base contract is pro-rated given how far into the season your are and only the used portion remains on your books. The bonus, however, was paid when the player signed his contract and cannot be recovered. The current year's bonus remains on your books, and all the remaining years' bonus amounts are applied to your cap in the following year. So that is where the numbers you see on the 'cut player' dialog come from.
