Shouldn't this be a touchback?

Offense throws a pass. Defender intercepts and is running for a TD. Offense hits Defender forcing a fumble that goes into the end zone. Offense recovers the fumble in the end zone.

Game ruled it a safety as if the whole play was a net loss by the offense, but since there was a clear change of possession wouldn't the ruling here be a touchback? Or am I missing an obscure rule or footnote somewhere in the book that only becomes relevant once every 10 years or so?

Pylon Cam! :P
Looks like it went out of bounds, Chris.

Well, you see, Al, the fella ran up behind him, and he's one of the fastest in the league. It looks to me that he use a Peanut Punch to knock the ball loose at the 3. Then things went all bugs bunny as everyone chase it to..
Well, Al, what appears to be out of bounds.
Unfortunately, due to our limited camera usage - cameras that I'd like to mention are unmanned or if manned, placed far apart throughout the stadium - we do not have an angle that allows us to determine exactly what happened on the play.
I guess we will just have to see what explanation comes out of New York on Monday and go with the field officials, Al.

You know, Chris, please tell me how this reminds you of your mediocre playing career. We both know America wants to hear it.
:P

That's funny except Cris (there is no h in Cris, go figure) actually had a pretty good career. Back in the day when DB's used to be able to hit WR over the middle, Collinsworth had no fear, and lost his lunch on the field a few times.

He was a way better WR than an announcer.
