sign FAs and coaches

It seems as though signing FAs and coaches is like bidding on Ebay. Where I make a great offer for a player in the morning but my offer gets topped in the evening. Being that I get up at 4:30 am PST I can't be around to change my offers late at night.

I lost a level 92 OC due to this, and to say I'm a little pissed is an understatement. There should be no advantage to people that are up late and can put in offers right before the day rolls over. You could say that I should have made an offer sooner but you'd be missing the point.

This needs to be changed. Maybe make the current offer for a player or coach not visible?

There is no advantage.

The offers come in by day, not by time. A better offer could have been submitted before your "best" offer.

The "current offers" you see on the player card are the offers as of "yesterday" in sim world. Any offers then made that day do not update the player card until the next day.

*** EDIT
I just realized you were talking about a coach. I don't know if where (if anywhere) current offers are shown, but the same principal would apply.

I believe offers aren't visible until the next day, so no one would have been able to see your offer. The other team just pushed all their chips into the table and overpaid for the coach.

Coaches never wait to sign so there is never a way to view other offers for them.

I made an offer to my current OC in CUST10 and the next day he'd signed with another team?

As for the other comments above, maybe a little clarity here would help? Apparently I'm only guessing and it shouldn't be a guessing game.

One problem is that when signing coaches you can only go after one at each position at any one time.

If that coach has already signed for another team then that is a day wasted. If the coach has already signed for a team nobody else should be able to offer him a contract.

I agree with the player offers. They should be private offers and the highest silent bid should win. Otherwise, like you are assuming, someone can wait till the very end to see the high bid and go a dollar more.

I agree with Pittball1. All offers should be hidden until the player is signed.

It would be best from an owners point of view to keep it private. Yes.
But ya gotta think of it from the players point of view.

Private auctions wouldn't be in the best interest of the player. An agent always wants a bidding war for his client to get him the best offer possible. It's prolly why we always see what RL FA's best offers are and by whom during their free agency wine and dine tours.
