Why does nothing happen on Sundays?

There are a couple of reasons we decided to not run sims on Sundays:

* This gives one day that the system can be taken offline for updates or maintenance if necessary without disrupting the games

* It keeps the weekly schedule consistent (M/W/F or Tu/Th/Sa for playing games)

* It gives you a day that you don't have to feel like you need to get on and check your team - I know that for me at least, even something that I love to do gets overwhelming if I have to think about it 7 days a week.

Maybe that's not true or maybe the above reasons are bad - I'm not opposed to running the sims 7 days except for the first reason (which I have never had to take advantage of) so feel free to push back - but that is why it was originally decided to just run on 6 days.

I support the Sunday off schedule. It is nice to have a day off, and also for the games to stay consistent all season long. My 2 cents.

Yeah, I'm a fan of the 6-day myself.

But I would put out there to see if there's a possibility to ramp it up to 7 for, say, early free agency and drafts? Those points seem to have the most drag already in my eyes, and maybe a 7-day "off-season" sim run schedule might get us to the "good parts" faster?

That was actually the main reason I was asking. I'm really enjoying this game but I feel like the offseason takes forever. I was trying to think of ways to speed it up and simming on sundays was one thought I had. Some other thoughts are:

1. Reduce the early free agency from 6 to 4 days. I've only been though 1 off season so far but it seemed most of the good players were gone by day 4. Since we have another free agency period after the draft I would imagine cutting to 4 would be ok.

2. Reduce the draft from 6 to 4 days. I really like the live draft for the first few rounds, however after that it seems you are either taking kickers/punters or just grabbing the next best player and hoping he turns out better than expected. Would it be a big deal if we eliminated the live draft on the last few rounds or just shortened the time in between picks quite a bit?

3. Late free agency. What would happen if we cut this from 4 to 2 days? It's not like we can't still sign players during the preseason and by this point I would think most teams have their starters and would just be signing depth anyway.

4. Finally, I think having the "midweek" sims between regular season games is great. However, is it really necessary during preseason games? Are people spending that much time gameplanning for their preseason game?

Just some thoughts. Seems like we would cut about 9 real days off the offseason schedule with minor impact to the flow of the game.

Good thoughts - the # of FA weeks can certainly be adjusted (even on a per-league level) so if some folks from MFN-6 or MFN-1 (since MFN-1 is the beta league) want to weigh in that might be something we can change in that league and see how it goes.

Skipping midweeks in pre-season is another interesting idea. I'd love to hear what other folks think about that as well. It would take a little bit more to remove them, but I can see the argument to do so, especially now that the pre-season active roster is going to allow your entire roster to be active. The disadvantage would be that you would really need to jump in each day to make sure your injured players are not active for the next day, instead of having two days to take care of that. Might be something I could have set up on a per-league basis, as well.

The off season is a real drag for sure. Especially if you don't make the playoffs or get bounced early.

All of the above suggestions are great ideas. I don't feel there is any downside to shortening the off season & pre-season stuff at all.

I'd consider adding some draft scouting options during the playoffs also, it gives the non-playoff teams something to do. At some point, you may also want to add more of a in-depth scouting process and this would set up nicely for that.

I'd second the ability for non playoff teams to have something to do. Just a minor thing even like draft peeks and a touch of early scouting would be cool.

I like having a "day off" and the consistent M-W-F schedule. Keep "as-is" in my view.

I agree.
