Glitching and other problems

By Coach Pappy

Being a long time game and sports fan I grew up playing all sorts of games. Every publicly open game eventually loses out to players who who find ways to beat the game engine instead of the game. They do this a variety of ways and in every game that is played on an open to all format. If this "glitching" is not dealt with quickly and decisively it ruins the fun for all involved except for those that partake. We have seen glitching here with the abuse of contracts, position changes, multiple teams, etc... but I was always aware of another way which I kept to myself knowing that if I ever saw it, I would leave the league. This way is when a play is unbeatable that an owner would only use that one play, or sure that one play the majority of the time because he know there is not much his opponent can do to stop it. With us being able to select 40 plays to use you would expect to see the same play maybe twice in a game, but if a play is a staple you might see it 6-10 times a game. Tonight I ran into a team which ran against a defense set to stop the run, and nothing but the run. This team ran the ball 45 times for well over 200 yards and again.. it was against a defense with sliders set to stop the run unless is was 3rd and long or 4th and long. It ran 1 run play 26 times (yes I counted), and another run play at least 15 times (no i didnt count).

Now, I am not complaining... I am just saying this isnt fun for me.. I am looking for a hobby to stay interested between HS football season as I actually get to live me dream as a HS football coach where I am a head coach of a larger HS. So again, this is just a hobby. I don't have the time, nor do I want to spend the time to delve into finding the counter to these glitch plays like I did in the old Madden days. My point is to the development team.. You have choices in how you make this product and I commend your start. But at some point you are going to have to choose on whether you allow the glitchers and lose owners like me who lose interest when they realize they will never win a championship unless they follow suit.. or do you have the time and resources to put systems in place to fight these glitches. It is a tough question and I understand that...

There is a saying in coaching... Either you are coaching it, or you are allowing it to happen..

So with that said... I must say thank you for the hobby during the offseason and wish the best of luck to everyone and a special thanks to jcruz who spent extra time to teach me a lot of this game.. I have some very good teams out there for people to pick up now.. have fun with them

Your making this message after losing to a owner who is better then you. He drafted a better team and he puts together better game plans. Remind anyone who doesent know you drafted 5 wr's and a stud Qb and in 9 games has yet to run the ball with a RB. It worked for a while and then you met up with a couple teams who are better then yours.... The only glitch is he ran and threw all day and your defensive gameplan wasent good enough. Anyone who loses on this game the first question is what did I do wrong in the gameplan. Evaluate your game and you will see you didn't do much right.

LOL.. better get your facts straight before you post next time.. I was trying to save that team. I didnt draft any of the WR's of QB.. I took that team over after those were drafted and there wasn't any other way to go.. I purposely didnt state which game or games helped me decide.. yes, there was one game tonight that made me say enough is enough... but it isnt that owners fault because he is just doing what he needs to do to win.. I get that. He is also not the only one doing it. He also just pmed me and agreed that he set up to run those two plays and he was also correct that his pass game went for 350 yards... I dont have a problem with him.. I also dont have a problem with losing.. but I left Madden when it turned into people just running the glitch plays and now Im leaving here. not a big deal..

Those plays can be stopped unless you were exposed. find the problem within your play calling which allows these plays to ultimately look like a glitch. How many seasons have you had a well respected team, and now all of a sudden this is a problem to make you quit the game.

I'm not sure Pappy will see this, and that's too bad. He was a fun competitor that had some of the best defenses that I've played against.

I can understand the frustration with glitching, but some of what is being complained about here is not glitching. Pappy is right in that there are a few plays that work on this game, and by work, I mean they work at all. Most of the running plays are total **** even if you have the best OL and a great RB. So as a coach, which Pappy will understand, you don't run those plays. The same issues exist with the passing game, so you only use the plays that work. That ends up making your playbook smaller, but it certainly isn't glitching in a traditional sense.

I haven't found a true glitch where moving a OL to a RB will make him unstoppable. If people know about those types of glitches, please let me know. I'm convinced that most fourth quarter comebacks are the result of a glitch, but can't prove it, and JDB says otherwise.

I found it, though I don't agree that the two plays that were ran a ton couldn't have been stopped.

i guess i need to defend myself since everyone is interested in our game, lol. First off i like to think of my team as a pretty balanced attack with a good defense. Gameplanning for his particular game as tricky cause my opponent passes 100% of the time. I knew he'd stack the box for my middle runs so i decided to limit how many runs were in my playbook. The biggest thing that i noticed was since he passed so much he didn't use a lot of time off the clock. So as the game got deeper i was playing with a big lead and i have a rule that runs the ball predominantly in the circumstance. I was able to do most of my damage through the air and never really dominated on the ground despite running only two running plays. Ive been on the other side of this type of game so i understand his frustration but there is surely ways to counteract this attack. I have a lot of respect for Coach Pappy so i feel bad that he's leaving but i under no circumstance was trying to glitch the game or do anything illegal. Teams can take the running game out all the time by calling the same blitzes over and over and i don't see any difference. I passed the ball 34 times for 350 yards and 5 tds and i'm defending the plays i called in the running game?
