I have had np switching LB's to RDE or even LDE and them finish with 30+ sacks in the season

I may have had this happen if I had left my LB at DE (he was on track to get there with his average), but the swap was only due to injury. He had 4 sacks in one game once or twice.

As being fairly new to MFN and all, I would still have to agree with what some of the seasoned veteran owners have stated. Speed is the back breaker on the D-line! Along with Strength, you can have some real QB nightmares. I have been fortunate to find some oversized LBS in drafts, switch them to DE, and with the weight gain , they are looking like sack happy monsters. Am even tinkering now with dropping oversized but high speed DEs into the DT position, since DT seem harder to come by. ( solid ones anyway)
Now this is in a 4-3 base. I had to switch out of the 3-4 in one league. I just couldn't generate pressure. But with the speed, even if when the pocket breaks down, the faster DEs seem to chase down a QB fairly regularly.
And all in all, I am more in the philosophy of in the law of averages, that a sack is more or less a drive killer! Maybe not always, but 2nd and 12 or 3rd and 17 is usually the kiss of death for an offensive possession. Seeing a Punter trot out or a kicker attempting for three instead of a team putting the rock in the endzone, is always what you want in a defense. And the turnovers, well that is just gravy.

I always got ST over SP for DTs. I'd rather the DTs push the center of the OL back into the QB and make him move than expect a DT to have a lot of sacks.

If you're not getting to the QB, you better have some high quality DB's.

Well yes I agree with the STR over SPD on the DT. But that was merely in reference as to trying to move an oversized DE with great STR and SPD down into the DT spot. Am curious as to how that works out. I do not expect alot of sacks in the DT slot per se, but do look to "blow up the pocket" and force the QB to make poor decisions on the fly,as setheric kinda said.

You have to watch the weight on players you move positions. A 100 ST DT that is 250 pounds is going to be pushed around more than a 300 pound DT with say 65 ST.
