screen passes are one fix but in a real game there are many other ways to beat the blitz. I played a team that blitzed me every time and the hot route was to throw a quick slant in half a second. This play resulted in 3 interceptions and many incompletions. When i did complete it i was tackled for like 3-5 yards. So unless your receiver breaks a tackle and takes it to the house i was screwed. I do like the idea of throwing a quick bubble screen or a rb screen but there should be many avenues to beat the blitz effectively. I think running away from the blitz should kill a defense but as it is it doesn't seem to matter the majority of the time.

The game would be completly different if screens were allowed. Plain and simple. Expectations will never be the same as real football applications.

Our QBs stats match that of adjusted NFL ones that take out screen passes for breakdowns sake. Also, We take more higher gambles to make up for the lack of consistently passing that would be created with a screen. Not to mention another facet a D will have to account for.

Our game is limiting the stats, by design, probaly to limit screen abuse. Same story we are on now with blitz.

The game is clearly ready as every thread leads back to this same complaint.

Well, at least in my eyes, and until then work on the way the defenders not directly related to the action.......have them between thier assignment and the ball. My vets are asleep at times.

What stats are lacking? Get a better blocking team if you want to move the ball against blitzes And screen passes aren't that big of a gainer in real. Barely ever are a go to play . Maybe on 2nd and 20. adjust to how this game is. No matter what there's always gonna be issues. This is the best sim game ever made of its kind.

Since this has gotten so far from my OP, let's double back. I'm not arguing that it's not a great sim because it is. I'm saying that it just isn't fun anymore (at least for me).

The reason is because I just spent a year crafting a game plan that relied heavily on short passes. Figuring out which ones worked best for any QB. And figuring out how to compliment a short passing game with a running game that went either outside or inside (I haven't relied on the HB Counter in months as much as I had gotten accused of it).

The code changes made it impossible for me to continue playing the style that I liked to play because there is now not as much benefit from a short passing game as going to a medium passing game. Here's why:

1) Completion percentage is way down. The short passing game is volume of passes versus yards gained per pass. If I'm completing 60-65%, which is where I like my teams to live, I'm fine with a lot of 3-5 yard passes. If I'm completing <60% or, worse, <55% of my short passes, I'm not moving the ball as effectively.

2) INTs are way too high in the short passing game. The accuracy nerf caused a situation where you're more likely to turn the ball over throwing short than you are throwing into double or triple coverage. I don't know exactly why this is. It could be because the QB can't thread the ball between defenders that are closer together anymore. So you're better off throwing the ball long because a WRs courage will always be stronger than cover skills plus punish.

3) Open WRs drop too many passes. The bonus that WRs get from courage for catching ***** in coverage is stupidly high. A WR with 50 catch and 100 courage is better off with a defender draped over him than he is in the open field. This was a problem before, but now with QBs not able to accurately throw a pass to an open WR running a short route, the problem is compounded. So, again, better to run the WR long and let the QB chuck it up for grabs.

All three of these reasons are why the game isn't fun for me. I want to be able to run a New England styled short passing offense that occasionally throws the ball medium or long distances, but the code change was specifically geared to make these offenses less effective. Basically, I now have to spend another full year building a medium/long passing system to effectively compete.

Your 5-1 in the hardest league on this game. I agree passing has went down but it don't take a year to build a offense, that's crazy talk to think that. For one the players matter a lot. Bad WRs bad passing. I just don't understand this being a reason to quit. A lot of teams would like to pass like the patriots . How many actually are as successful? How many short passing games control games? It's not easy and it shouldn't be. QBs struggle in the NFL .

Throw 20 percent screens in there at 100 percent completion and the numbers transform.

The fact the game doesnt have screens changes the game. Down playing any more will down play the game.

Is this all hear say? Or does any one have any real stats. Mine actually have some truth. Not you two trying to put this game in a box.

Your numbers are double the average in the NFL in 2014

2014 M. Ryan led league in yards off all screens ( WR and RB )

54-64 on screens 531 yards
415 -628 4,694 yards
10 percent of attempts
7 percent of completions were screens
8.8 percent of yards

Blake bottles led league in screen com. With 61 and had 384 yards

Around league average was
T Brady 48-54 293 yards off screens
C. Newton 39-43 280 yards 10 percent of attempts & yards
A. Rogers averaged 3.7 yards a screen pass.

League avg 300 yards 35-40 com = 8-11 percent of passing plays were screens

Avg a of yards per screen in NFl was 5-6 yards per screen

My stats are from many years of football. Your stats small , isolated, and only prove your point not mine.

Oh well.

Show me some stats on this game. Situational and how they match up.....

Or at least present an objective veiw.


Look up those same QBs stats when facing two extra blitzers. The will look alot different.

Rb screens average yards per catch are less than te and both are less than wr screens.

Your average at 5 or 6 is that an average. Screens will go -9 or 99. It is a huge range when compared to any other pattern run in football.

These plays have the most random results in comparison also. Based on what defense it faces.

Screen have the most consistent YAC for all passes, but that varies greater than any other play run or pass.

There is nothing average about them.

Note this thread is for game manager QBs. Not brady rodgers newton. Show me how often game managers use screens passes. My 20 percent loose example was plenty low in that regard. Some guys will do it half of all passes in one game.

2014? was that a special year for screens? Come on ....I have many hours of research and can pull this stuff out my ***. Search all the engines you want i have done it years ago.

Anyways, back to the task at hand, which is convincing our friend Setherick not to quit.

Well, Seth-i-poo, how about this. I really don't want you to quit, I enjoy your opinions and rants, so I have a solution for you to recharge your psychological batteries. What you have to do is just pick the worst 40 offensive and 30 defensive plays for your gameplan and laugh every time they fail. That way you won't take it too seriously... And a fringe benefit for me is that I play you 2 of the next 3 weeks in 75, and that way I will BEAT the **** out of you... and we will both laugh and have fun and I will win and I really want to win...
