To JDB: Blitz Pressure On Slow QBs

In MFN blitzing an immobile QB with no scramble usually means success for the defense even if he is accurate because of his inability to evade the pass rush. But now I am asking does the same thing hold true with the new game engine because obviously blitzing is a risk anyway.

Guys in the leagues running the new engine, what are you seeing?

Is 31 Speed 'slow' enough for this discussion?

Notice how my QB gets ate alive for an entire Half. But then notice how he Hot Reads and dominates in the 2nd Half.

Why isn't he hot reading in the first half?

He hasn't seen the play a lot that game before second half?

I'm thinking this is it. He's got to see it before he can recognize it. Maybe it's different with Play Familiarity, but we're a Day 1 League, no one knows any of the plays really.

Once he's able to see it... he can make the right read/throw to beat it.

From what Ive seen so far, the slow QBs with good passing attributes def have it better in the new game version than they did before. And in the new game version, you have to be careful not to over-use a defensive play, as the QB will "hot read" it and burn you. We've had a couple of games in Beta 87 where the passing statistics were nuts, over 800 yards passing in one game by a QB. Almost 500 yds receiving and 6 TDs by one WR in that game.
Blitzing has been affected by the 0.4.1 version, QBs are getting more time, and you need to use more play diversity, You can still blitz most of the time, you just need to use more blitz plays instead of a few. In Beta 87, LBs are getting more sacks in proportion to DEs & DTs, than in other leagues and the previous game version. The DL seems to have been slowed down by an improved blocking algorithm that has swung the advantage over to the OL. Thats my initial reaction so far.

I would love to see the O turned down. Track-meet football sucks IMO. I would prefer to see more defense rather than teams racing up and down the field at light speed.

So far the only time I've seen that is when teams are awful on defense (talent or gameplanning). It seems pretty reasonable to me.

Slow QBs have become more viable... but that is only because now Interior Pressure will break off to 'corral' a QB, so the QB gets to just stand there and throw the ball.

This is getting hot-patched... so once that is resolved the Slow QB will be extinct once again.

Something needs to be done for Slow QBs to be viable. Tom Brady is one of the Slowest QBs (and one of the Least Athletic in terms of SPARQ) in the Modern Era... yet he is the Greatest QB of All Time.

We've got to do something about this. Can a Fast QB work? Sure. Tyrod Taylor is pretty good. Marcus Mariotta is doing well. Cam Newton, obviously.

But more often than not they have limited success, or can't sustain it. Johnny Manziel, RGIII, Kaep.

There needs to be a place for a 25 Speed QB to excel IF he has actual QB Skills. Release needs to help take off some of that Pressure. Intelligence needs to do more to trigger the Hot Read (and perhaps to help sort out the mess that is Progression).

You have QBs like Benny Worrell in MFN-7 who by all rights SHOULD be Peyton Manning... and instead he plays like the 3rd Manning, because he doesn't have enough SPEED to be a QB in MFN.

Now if you have 10 Speed, I get it. You can't be dead back there. But I think QBs *Who Have Actual QB Skills* should start to be effective in the Low End of the Speed spectrum.
