Hey JDB.. How about...

Hey, how about a "State of the Game" report? It's been quiet lately. I think a lot of us are still enthusiastic about this game and would like to see it continue to grow. I think it's good that things have been stable with no major updates in awhile. People are starting to learn and adapt to the changes. Thanks for all you have done. Tell us how it's going and what you need from us.. :)

The "Roadmap" only goes so far .. lol.

MFN1ers are welcome to update as well since they are testing changes!

I don't think a "state of the game" is forthcoming.

The last time JDB posted in the MFN-1 (beta) forum was January 2:
https://mfn1.myfootballnow.com/forums/6/1967?page=1
https://mfn1.myfootballnow.com/forums/6/1966?page=2

The last time JDB posted in the Community Forums was Dec. 31:

In case you missed it, this is excerpted from his post on Dec. 10. I think its content was more ominous than we realized at the time:

Just so you all know, this site runs on ads and credit sales. The ads bring in about 60% of the revenue. The total revenue is about 90% of the cost to run the site. The revenue from ads has been slowly decreasing disproportionately to the site traffic. Some of that may be because many of the users who play a lot have purchased credits. It could also be because the site needs a layout overhaul, which I have in progress. It may also be because of an increase in the use of ad blockers. A year ago, the revenue was covering right at 100% of the cost to run the site - which it had been doing for a while.

You may have noticed that I've had to slow down on the speed of development. I'm having to divert my attention to projects that can pay the bills. MFN, during its best months, has never done more than cover its costs.

I hope that this isn't an indication of a possible decline and demise of MFN. I've toyed around with changing the model to a subscription service, but I think most of you will agree the product is not strong enough to sustain a model where everyone is required to pay for it. But, I bring this up because, while I have no enforceable method to make sure that you don't use ad blockers and also understand the frustration of rogue ads getting through Google's servers (ironically, it is Google who serves the ads that then cause Google to block a site as malicious), I also want to be transparent about what using ad blockers means for the site and what it may mean for the future of the site.

I have no intention of shutting the site down at this point, but I pay for blocks of services at AWS 1 and 3 years at a time... and the current revenue is not keeping up with what will be required to renew those services. If the funds run out, I am not sure I'm going to continue to bankroll the project from my own pocket

(Anyone with skill and knowledge to solve the above issues is free to PM me, I'm a programmer and not a marketer or businessman and am always open to hearing from people who are experts in their field in areas that I know I'm weak in)

That's really sad but expected. There is no vision here, no stated end goal. Asking players what he should do etc. If he doesn't lead why would anyone follow? That reads like he doesn't know how to fix/make a 53 man NFL simulation, has run into a wall, and is now looking at a lack of funding mixed with an obvious lack of motivation. This doesn't seem like he's very passionate about football or the game.

I would buy credits IF more options were given to GM's to remove midweeks and sim on Sunday. No overhaul needed.

well his last post might be Jan 2 in Beta and last time he posted might be Dec 31

The thing is his last login of his is 2-3-2020 so sure he might not be posting in beta or posted in the forums yet the thing is he probably is so busy working on game he probably doesnt have time to say post every day either be in beta or the forums.

I would imagine once he has next version ready he will probably post then or more likely to and thing is next version could come later today or maybe tomorrow and this whole thing about him would be moot because of that fact.

i think people just need to learn to have some patience because all good will happen in timely manner .

Yes, don't misunderstand me. I am not saying he SHOULD be posting instead of tweaking the game. I am saying those desiring communication are probably not going to get immediate satisfaction.

actually there is a way around that where people could get immediate satisfaction

It would involve JDB giving like Commission ( i think thats the word ) to someone like lets say SETHERICK ( just a example so please dont @ me )

and then either that person if he/she was on same wavelength as JDB could post things or keep people up to date so people wouldnt get disinterested rather they would get interested and hang in there little longer OR that person would have to have a list of things people would like to know and would have to find a way to ask JDB those questions or what not then post their findings then i or one would think problem solved.

For those of you in MFN-1 and other leagues. How much difference is there between the 2 leagues?

I'm pretty sure there are people who might do this for free if the information was actually given. I agree anything other than patch notes would really be a waste of time. My only issue is if something is changed.. let people know.
