Free Agents

I just now noticed that I can see the offers from other teams now which is dope!(not sure if this has been available but I never noticed if it has) I asked a question like the one I'm about to ask now. I know as of now the free agents take the largest contract. My question is do they also take the longest years offered over short years? Does there age effect their decision as well like me offering a 35yr old QB A 6 year deal just so I can land him...ect...ect.

I believe the number 1 priority is the guaranteed money. The big bonus total over all the years, so if you offer more per season then someone else for less seasons but his guaranteed bonus total is more from the other offer he may take that offer.

The only problem with offering that kind of contracts is that players 10 years in the league or more have a percentage chance of retiring the next season and this could increase more each season as injuries also can effect it greatly. So if you give that 6 year contract and he retires the next season or before the full contract is finished any bonus money left on that contract will be applied to the next season as dead cap space.

I'm actually glad that happens. I was just curious..On another note is it new, the fact that I can see what other teams offered a player.

It seems to me, I have always been able to see them. At least for a good while now.

It's only there for the free agency stages because it doesn't update real-time, it's what offers were received in the previous stage. So don't keep checking it between stages as by design it won't give you any competitive advantage - your bids are still blind bids and the other offers may have gone up or even been withdrawn - but is helpful to see the demand a player might have during free agency.

I think its been mentioned before but it would be nice to do this for coach contracts as well.

Along with getting an alert if someone is trying to poach yours.

ALERT: If you have a good position coach, someone's trying to poach him!

Ha! Just saying, though, it stinks having a 70-80 some rated coach and go back to hiring a 50 rated position coach. Since you are able to see other offers for free agents, you should at least get a chance to counter with your coaches.
