What impact, if any will the weight of the DT have on his actual play until he trims down to size? Anyone know?

Moving to where?
I just moved 2 DTs from DT to LDE and RDE for my 34 Run Stop... I hope they DO NOT get smaller. I INTENDED for 300 LB DEs.

If you change a player's position, his weight will automatically start moving in the direction of the MFN determined ideal weight for that position. There is nothing you can do about this. For example, at the end of their careers (and even sooner), every player at each position will be the same weight (pretty much) if they have played that position their entire career.

Experience at the position.

Yeah but I thought that was gained through matches not just training camp

They gain about 4 games worth of experience, etc., during training camp (I think it's 4 games). They do get experience and progress in regular games as well.

It affects his speed (bigger = slower) and block shedding (bigger = harder to block) I think.

Of course there are other factors as well, (speed, strength, etc.).

I can't think of any more off the top of my head that also involve weight.

On that note, I wish weight was part of the player weight settings (ratings).

I'm pretty sure the gain players see is dependent on their intelligence as well. Higher intelligence, the faster they gain experience at position.

Yes. I just meant it is on a per game basis except for TC.

But this confuses me a bit. I mean, in general, I get it. But when it comes to something specific like the difference in a 43 Speed Rush DE and a 34 Run Stop DE.

I want to play my Back Up DTs as 34 Run Stop DEs, and they are well suited to do so... but if they get smaller they won't be as well suited. I mean, they will get faster in general by being smaller, but they are SLOW anyways, by design.

I'm trying to build a wall... I need the beef to stand pat vs. the Run and Push Into QB vs. the Pass.

So how do I keep playing them at DE, but not 'move' them so they stay 300 LBs, strong but slow?

Just leave them at DT as their position and move them to DE on the depth chart. THey will keep their size like you want

Okay... so for future reference, how does one ACTUALLY change a position.

I just assumed (which is my bad) once his New Position got higher than his Old... Ta-da, he's that position now.

on his player page you can click the little button that says change position. It will let you change his position to anything you want and will give you the ratings of each. The problem with this is they will automatically begin the body morph into what is generally considered average for the position. So if you move a DT to DE he will lose weight in training camp and preseason trying to get to a DE body

Awesome, thank you!
