If I had taken more chances, I might have had more failures.

1.23 WR Daniel Warner Vol: 92 +9/+9 Now 40/87

I passed over a more obvious choice because this guy was faster. I was really at a loss last season when the one fast guy I had got injured. He's not a miracle, but he's certainly better than what I had.

4.23 WR Michael Higgins Vol: 36 +8/+3 Now 38/77

He'll never be a threat, but he can be a competent slot/possession receiver if he proves to be reliable. He will probably be more valuable to me than anyone else.

7.23 CB David Pearl Vol: 80 +16/+8 Now 38/58

I took a late-round flyer on a guy who was fast and not much else. There is a significant question about whether this guy can actually become good enough at anything to make himself worthwhile. At this point in the draft, I'm just happy to come up with a guy who is worth having.

I wish I could tell you there was a secret to the draft, but if there is, I don't know about it. I have plenty of clunkers lying around to show that I don't really know what I'm doing. Probably the only thing I can do is keep taking potshots in case I get lucky.

2.32 WR Earl Miller, +4: Traded a backup QB and turned him into a guy who projects to be a good second option for us. Good route runner who profiles to be a hard nosed receiver who loves to hand out a good block.

4.2 CB Gregory Garnes, -12: Project who didn't work out. Still has the speed to play and could be a passable tackler, but coverage skills would be lacking too much to see the field when games started to matter. Unfortunate cut

5.30 LB -> CB Johnny Garner, +3: Linebacker convert to try and add valuable DB depth for divisional and conference opponents. Will make the roster but how hard he works losing weight will determine which position he ultimately plays. Weak tackling points to DB no matter how much he weighs.

6.30 OL Robert Wasinger, -5: Another project who didn't work out. If he boomed Indy would have grabbed a starting caliber OL for the cheap price of a 6th round pick. Will be cut before the preseason is over.

7.30 QB/Kick Holder Gerardo Almonte, +3: A kick holder curiosity pick. Likely will never be asked to throw the ball but his accuracy will be tracked to see how much a 7th round pick can boom.

Overall didn't have a lot of quality picks to work with but having Miller boom made the draft a strong success regardless of the other positions. I would have liked Garnes to also boom but you can't always get what you want. It felt like I had the chance to draft players who could contribute on a winning team, except Almonte, which is all I want from my picks. If you go into the draft expecting to get guaranteed starters with no flaw you better be picking high!
