The receiving stats for 2005 were dominated by MVR's Dolphins, like the sack category. Top 3 yardage (all over 1000 yds) TDs ... Phillips/17! , Martinez/11, and Bryson/4. Martinez had the best avg/catch... 21.9, followed by Bryson with 19.2. The LC Ravens had two WRs with 1000 yards gained, Chavez/9td & Cooper/12td. The only non Dolphin or Raven in the top 6 was the Chargers WR Nichols/7 tds, and he isnt even the highest rated WR on the Charger roster! All 3 teams are league championship contenders.

From this you can gather how important it is to have a WR or TE in the top ten, relative to how your team competes in the season and PO's. If you get two in the top ten, that is almost a guarantee of winning a division or WC spot. Take a good look at the key attributes for both WR and TE for those in the top 20, Nichols for example... 90 catch & 96 courage, but only 41 BRA and an extremely low 21 in route. Surprising, and a good example of exceptions to the rule. Speed in the 80s and 90s is a common trait, but then again, you have exceptions like Falcon TE Wallace with 47 speed, compensated by 83 catch/100 bra/97 route, and 95 courage. Receiving performance is also dependent on other factors, for receivers its the QB, of course, the OL protection, and the play selection/use.

Phillips/Dolphins .... Cooper/Ravens ...
Nichols/Chargers ... TE Wallace/Falcons ..

Am keeping this thread current for the time being, for those who dont have the time or interest in looking at the top players from a statistical standpoint. If you only use the default player weights, you will be at a serious disadvantage in this game. Looking at the top players by statistics at their position group shows you what attributes are the most consistent and important for each position. There are also good threads on the subject in the Community Help Forum for those who have not utilized that yet.
