Coach hiring

I can't sign an Offensive Coordinator because the salary cap for coaches is maxed out. What a mess!! Any advice on how to resolve this situation?

You need to find an expensive coach and replace him with someone cheaper. It won't happen for you until you hire the new coach. Probably your predecessor hired all those coaches when you were making more money

Oh, I see. The AI does this sort of thing. In the future, put this sort of question under "League Help." Then you will get a quicker response.

to prevent off season coach poaching, resign coaches prior to EFA 1 league sim.
Minimal salary increase / 6yrs every efa 1 sim if one wants to keep any coach.

Any coach other than the HC can be poached.
All it takes is a "slightly" larger increase to poach.
Any increase at 6 yrs will maintain your coach.
Always resign any coach one wants to keep @ EFA1.
Coach contracts are like college football no joke.

Coach poaching is the worst, this was the first season that I was able to keep all my coaches (aside from one of them retiring).

i do my best to only poach coaches from AI teams.
That said, the not my best is yr 1-2 with a new team, where I will not hesitate to poach a position coach from non-AI teams (not OC or DC) to find a HC, OC, or DC.
Edit: accidently hit enter:
it took me a long time to get through my "I will not poach" phase to meh - poaching position coaches is ok and AI is fair game.

It's important for players to know the only way to not have a coach poached is to re-sign that coach at EFA1.
Everybody has their own parameters when it comes to coaches - especially because of the various defensive and offensive plays available for exploitation.
People gonna play the way they wanna play, just as I do.

Last time I looked the MFN coaches didnt have any effect on player/team performance other than setting the playbook by the head coach. Has this changed? Because if not, it doesnt matter what the rating or level of your coach is, and why waste time/effort on coaches instead of more time on players. So many times, I see owners/teams doing coach transactions while they ignore horrible players that should be cut and replaced, or during early FA, when they should be bidding on valuable FA players. Ive never cared about a coach poach, I just grab another out of the coaches pool, nbd. And I havnt noticed any effect on the position players or team, Ive won LCs with lower rated coaches as much as higher rated ones.

Just an aside, concerning coaches and for those here who actually watch NFL games. Did you see the Bengals vs Chiefs game? Where it was 4th and 16, with less than 10 seconds to play and the Bengals leading by 2 with the ball around the Chiefs 40. What does the Bengals DC call? A 3 man rush defense, on one of the best QBs in the history of the game no less, Mahomes! I dont know what the metrics/analysis are on 3 man or less rushes, but when you're lead is less than a FG, a 3 man rush against a great or most any pro QB is not and has never been a good idea. I watched my brothers HS team lose a section championship doing that and have repeatedly seen teams lose games doing the same. They even have a saying now, "The Prevent defense will prevent a win !" Its frustrating to see a team, especially if you're rooting for and/or have a bet on them, do that right after they have hurried or sacked the QB with a 5 or 6 man blitz. You give a pro QB 2 or more extra seconds to throw, and you're asking for trouble, especially with less than 2 minutes left with a short lead. SMH
