I think the position matrix greatly reduced the exploiting of positions so I'll allow it unless FB as TEs becomes too exploitive. I definitely need to update the positional rules post UI update and position matrix because they'll still be some exploits that I can see getting a bit out of hand. I'm curious how a LB lined up as a safety would work and I may experiment with that in the preseason.

The issue I have with the matrix with that it covers where you can put a player type on depth chart, overrides AND changes in position for a player.

Given players tend to be able to gain/lose around 50lbs, if you allow a CB at DE then you've two exploits.

1. Don't change position - CB around 70lbs under DE weight, speed exploit.
2. Change position - CB goes from 191 or whatever to around 241 - around 35 points underweight. Still the exploit, slightly less than exploit 1.

I'm in favour of decoupling change of position from player placement - keep the matrix for determining what conversions can be made, who can play where (O line can be interchangeable, for example) but only allow a player to be added to a depth chart/override if within a small weight range,

So you want to convert your CB to DE knowing they'll be allowed but be underweight? Well, engine doesn't allow you to play them until say 270lbs or so- within 6 of usual weight. If they never reach that weight, you gambled, didn't pay off.
