Possible amendment for the league
by OffensiveTaco @ 10/25/2025 9:57 am
To quote the legendary “setherick”
The following below was taken from an excerpt in his NFL league, and I like this idea very much. Perhaps the commissioner of pay dirt may look into this.

When the new UI is implemented for everyone, I will be using the new admin position switch tools. If you want to get used to this, you can switch to the new UI right now to see what it looks like.

1. Players will only be able to switch to a position that has a lighter natural weight, but players will not be able to switch from a position that has a lighter natural weight to a position with a heavier natural weight with two key exceptions.

This ends up looking like this where the angle bracket shows the ability to switch positions:

Offense

OL <> OL
C < TE > FB > RB > WR
FB > RB > WR
RB > WR
WR

QB > RB

Exception 1: TEs can play at Center (long snapping) and change positions to Center. Once changed to Center, though, they can only stay at OL and never change back to TE.

Note that if you move a player to WR, that's the only position they can play at from that point forward. That means RBs will become more valuable in the backfield and as a flex to receiver.

QBs often flex to RB, we'll keep that. But they can't return kicks anymore. If you move a QB to RB though, that's their position for good.

Defense

DT <> DE > LB
LB > S > CB
SS <> FS > CB
CB

Exception 2: All DL are treated equal and all safeties are treated equal in terms of position switching and roster placement. Once a player is moved from DE to LB, though, he's staying there and not moving back to DE. (No more veteran meta moves from LB to DE for camp.)

Safeties are also about the same weight so there is no reason to disallow letting them swap spots. However, once a DB is made a CB, he's a CB.

Special Teams

KR and PR can be a RB, WR, or DB. No more metagaming the return game until it's fixed.

I’m ok with the idea of the amendment, the old UI is still working so since I mostly log on through mobile, I’m still playing on the old UI. I also delayed the sim one more day in hopes of getting the Seahawks ownership filled in.

just no.
There's enough player restrictions already.
Either i work with what i have or i hate what i got.
I'll work with what I have.

The league rules are already confusing.
Enforcement for a single admin is just too much to ask for.
I barely have enough time to look over my own game results, and when I was an admin i never had time to go through 16-17 games of film, logs, comparisons, hunting down IF that rb is a wr from film, the confrontations when i dared to ask a GM hey are you breaking this (or that, by golly) rule. Often when i knew a GM was abusing league rules, the GM was looking to make every excuse for their poor actions ad nauseum.

Stuff like that leads to players being renamed Osama Bin Laden and other hijackers of 9/11. Yeah, Im not letting that action go. It was a nasty retaliation. The league rules for player names was no politics. I got 7 hijackers and a whole lot of nasty when i said no, not ok. It broke the league and caused me to quit MFN for almost a year.
The only reason I took an issue was because another GM asked me to.
The anger I received was both without conscious and inexcusable.
It destroyed 2 leagues.

Obviously, I still carry how the heck i ended up being wrong stating 9/11 hijacker names were wrong.
It destroyed 2 leagues, and made me leave MFN for a year.
Heck, I had to come back under a pseudonym, FFS.
That did not go over well, either.
I would definitely take such a stand again.

I bring up my experience only to state and to warn that I do not want any other admin to repeat it.

The point being i joined the league to enjoy it, not dictate it.
I was an admin because i wanted to give a little bit more, not because i wanted arguments.

It's the straw that broke me to quit MFN for a long time. It's the straw I had to overcome to get back to the game. It took a long time for me to understand that some folks will use every facet available for justification, and to understand there was nothing I could do to counter such egos, before I was able to return to MFN.

Which was greeted with so much hate. Hey, I did my best.
Haters gonna hate.

MV does not need that kinda BS over league restrictions.
MV is definitely doing their best.
I can not ask for more from them.

There are bad actors. They will cause harm. Willfully and willingly when any opportunity arises.

Restrictions only cause retaliation or confusion.

It's impossible to take a sim back, and it's impossible to prevent position abuse.
All it led to when I took any action as an admin was retaliation from a GM. Abuse of character. Cries of dishonesty. Personal attacks of values and morals.
MFN is a vicious crowd.

In no way do i want to make my admin have more work, and in no way do I want any one to go through the bull poo i went through as an admin.
No. Way.

No way does our admin need yet more possibilities of conflict while trying to chase the tiger's tail that is MFN bugs.
No. Way.

I really like this league as it is. MV is a great admin.
I told ya I'd follow you MV, i meant it. :)

Nobody should have to work that hard to create parity in a broken game and take on such possibility of confrontation.
Chasing the game code is not the obligation or responsibility of a league admin.

It broke me when i was an admin. Every one was pissed off all the time and there was no addition or subtraction that created an equilibrium. I never want to see anyone go through what i went through in trying to solve game issues.

That is NOT the administrator's job.

It's more important for me that my admin - MV - to do his best and to keep league management at a minimum of overwatch.
Overwatch=over management.
MV gives us a LOT of time. We don't need to demand more of his time. I'm really grateful for all they do.

The proposal given is a catch 22.

It is my belief Paydirt is exactly where it needs to be.
An active admin.
A full league.
I don't see GM's logging any specific, non engine related complaints about Paydirt league rules.
Ultimately, I have full trust in and respect MV in their choices. As a GM, I can leave.
For an admin, it's not that easy.

Less work for the admin makes a happier and more active admin, and we got a GREAT admin.
Who wants to watch 16 game films and track 16 game logs every midweek?
No one with a reasonable expectation of the time involved.

The more restrictions, the more limitations, the more problems and complaints.

Work with what we have, and what we have is a great league and a dedicated admin who does not need more work when it's supposed to be about playing a game.

Admins are players, too. Stop asking them to do hours of work beyond what they already give.
Reckon their time, don't demand more of it.

Thanks, MV. Great job, great league, great GMs.
I don't think i'm alone in saying that most of us are doing just fine and thank you for the good times.

>>Keep up the great work, MV. i am not the only one grateful for what you do, and not the only one unwilling to ask for more of your time.

More rules just equals more complaints. Pardon all the spelling/grammar but seriously, paydirt is doing just fine in the current MFN environment.
