We don't have a rule in place that limits how many picks a team can have. Only the amount of trades between teams per season.(2)
Denver has a tight cap problem and Miami does not. So I can see why Miami could afford to accumulate more picks. All players involved are bonus free so any of em could be cut to help with the cap if Denver so chooses.
Schultz is a decent looking CB but has not been playing up to his skills. Speed could be holding him back some or poor safety play behind him as well. But not worth a first in my eyes. I think this is an overpayment here.
I like G Castillo the best in this trade. Also could have been had for a 2nd but if he stays health it looks like he can produce.
FS Jones is a throw in to make the deal go thru and most likely will be cut.

Keep in mind Denver needs to win now in the next year or two or be fired. His biggest weakness is his secondary and he improved it massively in this trade. I agree it might be a large price, but I certainly understand his rationale. Time will tell if this works out, but in his division, I’m not so sure he could wait for rookies to develop.

Denver doesn't improve that much in the secondary in this trade. A better trade would have been using the picks on the secondary/LBs-turned-safeties in the draft class. The draft class has some better defenders both in the secondary and DL. Just sayin.
