But Brand is "livid" with me now. Won't renegotiate, not that I would want to. Does this effect his play on the field?

To my knowledge, and I sure have plenty of experience with livid players, it only affects their willingness to resign with you. Brand’s on a perfect contract to ride out the rest of his career.

I wasn't around during that first trade, so none of that was factored into my decision making. This was a good deal for both teams, imo. Great deal for Cleveland if you factor in the original trade from a year and half back.
