How did your camp turn out?

The Raiders had a full slate of Draft picks for the first time in a long time (5 picks in 79, 4 picks in 78 and only 3 picks in 77). Getting old at every position, we really had to make the picks count this season and ofc getting some luck in Camp is always crucial.

Right now, we have have no complaints coming out of camp, with 6 out of 8 picks in the positive.

#1 Rafael Rogers FS R 9/1 Thrilled to get him at pick 20, happier to see him develop into the positive.

#2 Robert Dunham RB R 12/3 Needed some young legs here, good stats in all the right places, hope it comes together, off to a good start.

#3 Thomas Abreu CB R 11/2 Not superstar numbers, but good coverage skills and improving.

#3 Tony Ragsdale WR R 6/4 Badly needed some youth in our WR corp, still needs to develop in a couple of key areas, but off to a good start.

#4 Christopher Drucker WR R 2/-9 Taking a shot here with a vol of 76, didn't work out, still going to get a chance in preseason.

#5 Richard Leonard WLB R 12/0 Happy he didn't go backwards, but after taking another look at his stats, certainly lacking in some areas, wait and see project.

#6 Daniel Finn CB R 7/11 Round 6 nothing to lose, take a chance on vol 96, not very speedy but developing well in all other areas. Should be a solid longtime backup.

#7 Charles Addison CB R 1/-8 The other side of the coin, vol 88, busted and cut.

1.15 Thomas Ellis RT 1/-1. Strong lineman with good speed who can play anywhere on the line. Probably will start out at one of the tackle spots.

2.14 Phillip Cummings WLB 6/-1. Not a spedster, but covers well. Gives me options moving other LBer's around.

4.12 Carlos Davis RG 4/4. Good technical blocker who projects inside. Should be a solid backup with starting potential.

4.18 Nicholas Barger TE 8/3. Probably my favorite pick. Great blocker who is fearless and can get away from coverage. Hands appear to be the weakness.

5.26 Lonnie Henson K 10/11. Kicker of the future. Blew up at training camp will be better than our current kicker.

6.16 Harry Penn RB 3/-1. AI pick as my list was empty by this pick and I was unavailable. Not much here, likely cut after preseason.

The Jets camp was not a total disappointment.

1st Rounder DT Dudley Gonzalez Vol 40 +13/+2 - We have a starter to take over for an aging Position.

2nd Rounder LB Timothy Wallace Vol 22 +8/-5 - A bit of a disappointment he started with some favorable attributes so not a total lost but to see a vol 22 drop 5 points hurts a little.

3rd Rounder LB Henry Ray Vol 22 +13/+0 - Nice LB but wish his tackling went up, but should be a good coverage LB

4th Rounder LB Luis Langlois Vol 40 +3/-2 - See above

5th Rounder G Milton Williams Vol 100 -1/-18 - Offered a security guard position because that all he is good for.

6th Rounder CB Ernie Herrera Vol 58 +7/-6 - We will give him a look really was drafted to see if he boomed he really is too slow for our system.

7th Rounder C Ernest Bartow Vol 26 +2/+0 - Draft to see what would happen. Good Run Blocker and Center but probably not strong enough to stick with the team.

Free Agent Signings

QB William Hernandez Vol 46 +2/-2 - Already asked him to turn in his playbook

WR Matthew Wooden Vol 0 +5/-1 - Jets do not have much speed at the WR core so we will give him a look but he will likely be working a convenient store in a few weeks.

QB Juan Rawlinson Vol 24 +4/+1 - Jets needed an a kick holder. He is not a bad QB just doesn't have the arm Strength we like to see in a QB

Draft Picks:

1.3 CB Chris Clayton (+14/+2) - The only player in this draft that was truly on the Panthers wish list. He progressed and with his top end speed should develop nicely into a shut down corner.

4.9 TE William Rhodes (+5/-3) - Originally drafted by Kansas City and then cut. The Panthers took a flier on him in hopes his blocking ability would be enough to keep him on the roster. Sadly he busted and is pending to but cut.

UDFA:

DT Donald Bushman (+6/+5) - Developed a nice pass rush but doesn't have the run defense that would save his spot on the roster. Most likely will be shopped around.

Trades:

6.15 LT Gary Lucas (+10/0) - The Panthers acquired Lucas for a 5th and 6th rounder after the New England Patriots drafted him at 6.15. The Panthers had their eye on him, not as a Running Back in which he was drafted, but as an offensive lineman. After training camp, he's almost finished progressing his Pass Blocking which should end up in the 90-95 range while his Run Blocking may end up in the 80's making him a solid OL once he hits his weight.

TC was awful for me. Only 3 out of my 8 rookies didn't bust. My 1st rd pick SS David Montoya with a -6 :(

And some of my vets took a few steps back. Time to spend some time working on my gameplan.

Since the Rams doesn't have any rookies on the team we took all the vets bowling and canceled camp. We dont need no stinking camp......

I always thought that my bad training camp results were a reflection on my low ratings of a coach in that position..not always the case huh?

Not at all, coaches play no part in whether a player booms or busts. When a player is created, they’ve already determined whether they’ll boom or bust. Their volatility generally indicates exactly how much they boom or bust. Coaches help in filling out individual attributes for the players (a kicking coach with high kick accuracy will help a kicker max out his kick accuracy faster.
