10/01/2020 4:48 pm - Tampa Bay trades to the Houston Texans a 1988 3rd rd draft choice acquired in the contested trade. (This trade occurred AFTER the notice was posted to freeze the assets acquired in the contested trade.)

10/02/2020 12:00 p.m. - At the deadline, the vote is 5-3 for disapproval of the trade. (After the deadline, a vote to accept the trade was cast and a vote to abstain was cast (mine).)

Resolution:

The question is whether the original trade between Carolina and Tampa Bay should be voided. Based on the votes cast the answer is yes. When a trade is to be voided, it can have consequences for trades and personnel moves made thereafter. That is the case here.

One of the trades made be Tampa Bay occurred BEFORE the notice to freeze in place was posted. However, one of the trades made by Tampa Bay occurred AFTER the notice to freeze in place was posted. So although the Tampa Bay GM can't be faulted for making the first trade, he should not have completed the second trade.

In any event, he should not have had the assets to trade in the first place if we are to honor the vote on the issue. For that reason, I am voiding the original trade and the subsequent trades which included at least one of the assets acquired by Tampa Bay.

For that reason, I pushed back the start of the draft in order to give each of the team impacted by the voided trades an opportunity to revisit the trades and their approach to the upcoming draft. I hope in the end that each of the affected GMs can make lemonade out of this lemon.

P.S. I have voided the most recent Tampa Bay trade with Houston. However, when I then try to void the trade between Tampa Bay and New York (Jets), the program freezes. I suspect that might be due to the fact that it's necessary for the next phase to be completed (and the Tampa Bay - Houston trade be voided) before that trade can then be voided. If that's the case, then we'll have to wait for that to occur before the original trade can be voided. I will postpone the beginning of the draft until this is all implemented. Sorry for the delay.

The draft will begin on time tomorrow. I will void the trades if I am able to during the draft. If I'm unable to void the trades during the draft because the program doesn't allow it, then we'll discuss what, if anything should be done to rectify the situation after the draft. Meanwhile, Carolina, Tampa Bay and the NYJ, must not trade any assets acquired in the targeted trades. Thank you.

Why not just have Carolina take back his two elderly players for a 1st Rd & Tampa's 2nd Rd pick?

Then it would be like Carolina traded a 1st & two 3rd Rd picks for Tampa's 3-year FS. I could live with that trade. That is a lot more fair than what actually transpired.

Then the two later trades by Tampa can be left alone. Just an idea.

Tampa Bay’s last trade with Houston has already been voided, but can be revisited if Carolina wants to implement what CrazyRazor suggests.
