At risk of whistle blowing on myself, I saw some traffic about needing a first round pick.

After pick 28 in this year's first round, technically, my future picks board will display 0 1st round picks. So do I need to start looking at trading that piece now, or if I make the pick at 28, will I lose both of my picks in this year's first round? I hope not, but want to fully understand the implications

You’re good for now. However, until the next draft is completed you will be unable to move your only 1st rd pick unless you are able to pick up another 1st rd pick before then.

The rules provide that you must always show at least one 1st rd pick for either the current draft or in the following 2 seasons. In your case, after this draft is concluded, you will show one 1st rd pick in the third season following.

I'm not 100% but I think when the draft concludes the "future draft picks" tab on your home screen moves forward a year to 1991. This would then add a 1st rounder to your future picks. I may be wrong though.

Again, I hate being that guy, but I have had trades voided when the other team had 0 first round picks showing during the draft, after they used one in the current draft.

Personally, I think that whole rule should be suspended during the draft period. So as long a you use a first round pick in the current draft, but have traded away your next two, you should be good. But that is not how it was applied in the past. It was you ALWAYS have to have a first round pick showing in your future picks screen.

So I would say that TEN would be violating that rule if they don't trade back and pick up a future first rounder.

(PS, I may know a team with extra future first rounders that could help facilitate that)

Warthog had the same reasoning behind his trades a number of seasons ago. His trades were voided contrary to this reasoning. I remember because I was against voiding the trades.
