What happened? I looked at his roster and it could be better but not totally out of line to result in this. Forgive me I dont have time to watch this game.

TXBearfan might be our first GM to be fired.

Two consecutive seasons with less that 7 wins. Likely to be a third season upcoming based on the quantity/quality of platers on the roster. For example, there are only forty-five (45) players currently on the roster, including 4 QBs. That will result in players playing out of position and and/or likely being fatigued.

Roster limitations are accentuated by the fact that Dallas is only $860k under the cap. (Twenty-One Million ($21M) in cap space tied up in QB signings.) Dallas should cut a few players who are way overpaid (based on their ratings) but won't cut into future cap space. This will allow it to sign multiple players of equal or better ratings while filling-out the roster. It's also possible to offer to trade a minimum of one or two players on its roster who are talented and should bring one or two players in return (of admittedly lesser value) but also won't cut into cap space.

Won't have to fire him as it looks like he has abandoned the team.

I must say I was very surprised by Houston today and some players and the plays they made. Make no mistake I will be very surprised if this team can get 5 wins. But the rebuild may not be as daunting a task as I thought it might be.

Tennessee s another team with too few players, i.e., 45, to be competitive this season. However, it has just enough room under the cap to sign 10-12 players to one year contracts to fill out its roster. Not easy to get any stars unless it trades some of its 11 stockpiled 1973 draft choices.

Witness Tennessee's destruction by Washington. (Although the Redskins kill just about everybody.)

Other teams with "short" rosters heading into pre-season week 2, most with plenty of spending money:

Denver 49 ($11.5M in cap space)
Miami 45 ($3.5M in cap space)
NE 51 ($4.9M in cap space)
Balt 47 ($42.9M in cap space)
Wash 47 ($7.3M in cap space; 3 contract offers)
NYG 51 ($58.9M in cap space)
Phil 52 ($15.1M in cap space)
LAR 52 ($284K in cap space)
SF 51 ($31.2M in cap space)
Minn 45 ($7.7M in cap space)
Det 45 ($22.8M in cap space)
Atl 48 ($28M in cap space; 4 contract offers)
NO 48 ($13.35M in cap space; 3 contract offers)
TB 45 ($40.5M in cap space)

A huge sigh of relief from INdy as DJSim22 realizes they do not play Cincy in 1972! 104 points is almost a season's worth for some teams.

Cincy was so dominant that RB Barry Dunavant was named a defensive player of the week!

Side note, the Colts young rebuilt defense got demolished in the second half against Atlanta. The rebuild is just beginning.
