A possession WR for a search in the rough for a diamond. A trade TBD later.

He would likely have been cut anyway. Why trade draft choices when you can bid on him as a free agent?

I wasn't cutting Lance. I had him rotate as my WR3 at the end of last season, and with perfect B&R Avoid and Route, he's the type of player that can play inside or outside without hesitation. The only thing he's missing is Courage. He probably would have been listed as my WR5 with the emergence of Wilson in camp. Otherwise, he'd still be on my roster.

I don't think I'd have touched him with a 50 foot pole with that fumbling.

If you didn't cut Lance, then you would probably have cut one of your other receivers who are listed as 5-7th on your depth chart and are about as good as Lance. I surmise this because Lance only got in 6 plays during pre-season and is at 40 conditioning wise. So he didn't figure to play much this season for you anyway barring a lot of injuries.

No matter. I am not necessarily criticizing this trade as much as pointing out that at this juncture it might have been wiser to see who turns up as a free agent than to trade away valuable draft choices - especially to a grizzled veteran such as yourself who will get three shots later to replace with a better player one who would likely be hardly used this season.

This is all true. The risk for me is I'm going to have to find a player that is as good as Lance with one of those picks to replace him. Remember I stashed Sorensen for three seasons before moving him into the rotation. And Anderson is a blocking specialist who is on probably his last year. I'm probably going to need to draft two WRs or find them in FA this year to fill out the roster.

WR Lance has out-performed his talent and skills thus far. He's put up some nice stats. It will be interesting to see if it continues or not.
