Seems like a overpay for an old RB on an expiring contract, even though he is ridiculously good. A first and a young pass rushing DT? Advantage Carolina. Just my .02.

agreed. I thought this trade would invite a trade review request. But with the new game engine it's hard to tell how this trade will work out.

Even though I am a member of the committee, I have little faith in our system of reviewing/approving trades. There simply isn't enough time before they are consummated to have the committee review and consider questionable trades.

Again, another relative newbie is taken advantage of. Unless miracles happen (which is possible), Arizona is not on the verge of being a championship contender. Instead, it mortgages its future by trading a good young player and a relatively high draft choice (meaning another good young player) and some mid-round choices for an aging (but very good) veteran who can't be re-signed (except for a boatload of (bonus) money).

P.S. I invite anyone who wants to join me in drafting rules for the league to consider so that these types of trade are not likely happen. It's too late for this season - but we can aim for next.

note that i am able to void the trades. Which pretty much freezes the player until the review is made. That being said we can add a 24 hr freeze on trades which might not be a bad idea.

By that I mean any assets involved in a trade can not be moved in another trade for 24 hrs to give the community time to request a review. Of course when a review is requested the assets are then frozen for 24 hrs for the board to vote. So they could be frozen for up to 48 hrs in total depending on when the request was made.

I know this is more for the rules debate thread but just thought Id throw that out there especially for the new players.

I am completely fine with the trade. It doesn't look like I am going to be able to sign the best RB in free agency due to being outbid, and I doubt the lone 80+ RB in the draft class would've been available for me at the 14th pick. I signed some line players and plan on building my attack around a strong running game and trading a first rounder + DT that was only overall 68 with my player weights wasn't an issue for me. I still have plenty of cap space and plan on making a few more big free agency signings. We will be competitive this year.

Sounds like you have a plan. I hope it works out. I don't wish you (or anyone else) any bad luck.

However, based on my experience, these types of trades rarely make sense long term. If you are competitive enough to make the playoffs in the near term because of the trade, my hat will be off to you. Anything short of the playoffs, well ... . Anyway, good luck, Coach.

Thats one thing I do love about this game, is the many different ways to build a team. I've seen guys who trade a lot to build their teams that are successful and some who are not. Others that use the draft, others that use FA and of course a combo of em. The best part is things time to develop. Nothing seems instant. prolly cause of the play familiarity that players have to develop, playbooks and GM's style of game planning etc....

One thing I can say for new players is to watch game film, study your game plan on whats working against what and ignore overall ratings. Get the players that fits your scheme.

Agree. To each their own but we all know RBs are a dime a dozen. Rating aside. It is a Weak FA and draft for them but skill players in their late 20s drop quick and also retire sooner. That said, the rich get richer.
