Trading away top picks makes the most sense to me. He can either trade for cheap controllable players of draft picks a few years out.

Dallas now has a lil over 12.0m to work with next year. Which could've been better but a good dose of dead cap is needed for the next couple of years. And a couple more can go away via trade or cuts in the off season that will clear more. Between 6.0m - 10.m more freed up the following year. Although I'd love to see our caps a few years down the road vs the next year only.

Trading away a possible top 5 pick for the sake of cap relief "only" shouldn't be needed.
