Yes, this is our first update from the 1980 Jaguar front office. The franchise knew there was going to be a building process when they came in during the 1979 season. The old timers that once graced the roster have been replaced *with young very talented players. “When we came in and took over the Jags, there were 10-12 players that were 10+ year veterans. We didn’t see the necessity of keeping those types of players in a long term building plan. We started 5 rookies last season after the takeover and this year we are starting 7. This is no secret to what we are doing. Anytime a rebuild takes place with youth, the best weapon is patience” said gm greyghost.
The 7 rookies that are starting are RT Howard Harmon, RG Timothy Schott and C Carlton Nagy. In the event of injuries their backups are 2nd year Lance Moshier, rookie Randy Vincent and rookie James Bell. The starting RB, TE, and WR’s are both in their 2nd and 3rd season. On the defensive side of the ball there is youth…youth… and oh yes, more youth. Rookie DE Zachariah Burnett lines up across from 2nd year DE Wallace Johnson, versatile rookie Eric Robitailie is now lined up at DT. The LB corp is still strong as rookie James Golden has stepped in and performed great, along with 3rd year LB Richard Bergeron and 5th year rock Wade Moser. The DB’s line up with rookie Polk and 5th year Martinez, 4th year Bunch and 3rd year potential superstar John Nelson backed up by rookie Samuel Rhoads.
“We knew coming into this season It would be a long, tough process and have actually performed well. In many of our games we could have won, but just didn’t have that necessary finishing touch which only comes with development. We were also cash strapped which will be resolved next season and there is only great things ahead for our Jags” added ghost.
