Kansas City Star

One has to wonder just exactly what Meatmen Is up to. In his third season at the helm he is throwing Lamar Hunt's money around like confetti. A traditionally frugal franchise has never entertained the free agent market like Meatmen di this season. Perhaps he is trying to erase the gnawing pain of last seasons poor performance over the division rivals that surely cost the Chiefs the Wild card spot.

Signing the 5th yr Isaiah Bartow for a whopping 70+ million and beating out 18 of 32 teams. also signing Michael Anderson at LT...after losing Guether in the free agent melee. a definite step up from Earl Cash who was cut due to a major lack of strength. Cash was an original chief and a fan favorite but his body..not his haert just could not perform any longer...look for him at the front office level sometime soon.

Meat also drafted an fine RB who we hopes someday replaces Mathew Smith who is in his 8th season. The chiefs suffered the retirement of Charles Varney TE and the career ending injury to George Hathaway TE both 10 year vets drafted by previous GM sethrick and will be sorely missed. Placing our hopes instead on Rookie 1st rounder George Shipp (some say meat was asleep during the first the first round??) and Mathew Zazueta that we converted back to TE after signing him in during the 74 training camp from the panthers. Moving the former FB Jef Forgey to Third sting TE may be the answer to this problem for this season. He has great catch and run but lack the blocking ability and size.

Probably the most anticipated player other than 70 mil Sawyer is Cecil Manning CB a 3rd rounder who is sporting pretty good numbers with the exception of punish ( I think he shows em puppy videos? Snowflake style ). Hopefully he can lend a hand to Sun the one, and speedsters Roman Morgan John Odom. .While the Chiefs stingy DEFENSE allllowed the fewest points against last season. The fewest passing TD's and 6th in rushing TD's the Defense alloew only 334 yards per game (2nd) in the league. Not bad for a last place team!

Some would say a soft schedule..Blah blah blah...We will see it will be an interesting year with a new GM in our division that is inheriting a playoff team built by greyghost. Can he Build on it and win he division or will first year/new version jitters give up the ghost?? We knoiw that jgcruz (Chargers) and wolveraider (Raiders) are coming ***** out! Can meatmen (Chiefs) continue the comeback we started last season? Will Rookie cariaslopez be able to show some "lovey dovey" to our friends in the AFC SOUTH? You bet the Vets will! Last years winningest divisions go H2H this season!!!! Who will come out on top? 21 minutes til training camp....HERE WE GO!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

next week we will look at the offense[/i]
