What an ugly ugly game against Almalric's Jets. I mean a win is a win, but dayum. At least both defenses played well.

I mean seriously the two 7-0 teams are 4th and 7th with the Chargers (7--0) dropping 5 spots this week?!?!? And the Browns (7-0) dropping 1 spot?!?!?

Ok.... you can think it's their opponents which dropped both these 7-0 teams. The Chargers did beat 0-6 Green Bay but the score was 37-9. An undefeated team is undefeated regardless but then the Browns beat the 5-1 Bengals....so why drop that undefeated team a spot.

Then you could say, statistically they just don't measure up right??? But the Chargers are 3rd/16th on total offense and defense while the Browns are 12th/7th. Thats a combined 19th for both which ranks them tied for 6th in the league. The best overall ranking is the 5-2 Bengals at 4th/4th who the Browns just beat moving the Bengals up 5 spots????? Huh?!?!?!

Now the top team is Atlanta who nobody will argue with ranked 1st/21st coming off a lose while Carolina is #2 after squeezing out a win over Atlanta but ranked 11th/20th and are 5-2 with a split with Atanta which is understandable but they also lost to the Bears (3-4) with total rankings of 8th/25th.

So while an argument can be made for Atlanta #1...what's the aruguement for Carolina (5-2) outranking 2 undefeated teams????

So finally you think maybe wins/loses aren't factored in or even total offense/defense is a mute factor....maybe it's just point differential....maybe it's that easy....nah!!!!

1. FALCONS (6-1) +225
2. PANTHERS (5-2) +32
3. RAIDERS (5-2) +114
4. BROWNS (7-0) +91
5. TEXANS (5-2) +30
6. BENGALS (5-2) +77
7. CHARGERS (7-0) +66

So nope!!!!

Finally, you just give up making sense about the power rankings because they simply have no known logic.

Power rankings are a mess which can be ignored but in the end that's where the point spreads come from in the game....and they max out at -14 as to not get college spreads.

So if you wanna get upset at the game....check out the Power Ranking and start asking what the **** are they based on???

I have always felt the power rankings are off, but in this case....at least it notices that the Bengals are getting a little better. We are looking for a QB and a RB. Then we might be a real threat.

GG, Raiders. Our games are usually quite close and this was no exception. Hopefully, we won’t face each other again this season. But good luck the rest of the way anyway.

After losing my starting RB to injury (maybe for the rest of the season) two games after giving up a 1st and 2nd rd draft choice for him, I activated a second year running back who had yet to play a single down in his career. So what happens? On his first carry, he scampers 65 yards for a TD. Go figure - but I’ll take the computer assist.

Chargers/jcruz

Keep this undefeated streak going and you should be outta the top ten next week in the games power rankings.

You dropped 5 spots last week and 2 more this week to be ranked 9th.

Maybe you should lose??? huh?

Wow, I bid on Rouleau and backed out. That may be the single biggest break the Chiefs got all year. I lost my starter the week b4. Injuries are at 100 and haven't changed. Is it just me or are we getting an unusual amount of serious injuries this season. I'm a bit wary. The Chiefs still have 2 games VS the Raiders and we have a history of beating each other up injury wise...........................MM

I didn't have anything to do with it! Honest!......................

I like the way you rank the Quick and the Dead. I'm not sure how the power rankings work. I do notice that even a very low team can move up a bunch of spaces by beating a higher ranked team. Does it have to do with waivers? The odds? Not sure how they are even figured. Usually don't pay much attention. Just my opinion and what I see in the Community forums it's just a fun feature like the game of the week and odds. It doesn't have anything to do with the game. I found a post from JDB a while ago. I just think he has bigger fish to fry at this point.

I will tweak the algorithm soon, it is kind of crazy until about halfway through the season. I'd also like to someday make it easier for you to make your own power rankings, or possibly have a user-influenced power ranking system.
Hope that sheds some light on the issue..........................................MM

Point spreads are based on power ranking scores.

Example

This week

KANSAS CITY
@
OAKLAND (-8)

Goto power ranking and KC is ranked 13th with 2.9 points in parentheses while Oakland is ranked 4th with a 7.8 score.

Round both digits to neatest whole number so Oakland has 8 and KC had 3.

Find the difference which is 5 and finally the home field team gets +3 which is Oakland to get to 8.

You can do it for every team but the spread maxes at -14 so not to embarrass anyone.

Atlanta goes to Seattle and they have scores rounded to 11(ATL) and -9(SEA) which equals 20 but Seattle in home and gets the +3 so the actual spread is -17.
