2007 Season Guidelines

By MVRowner - League Admin

After a few days of thinking over the rules for the 2007 season, I think I can confidently post the expectations that every owner in this league should follow. Obviously, overrides and AI roster management is unpredictable, but I do hope that everyone will at least abide by these roster guidelines. If you have any questions, let me know.

Rule 1: Tanking of any kind is strictly forbidden in this league.
Rule 1a: Every roster must carry at least one Quarterback, Kicker, and Punter by week 1 of the regular season. Warnings will be give out during the preseason to remind you to add any of the missing positions but the positions are not addressed by week 1, it is an automatic removal from the league.
Rule 1b: Within 3 seasons of owning a team, it is encouraged to have at least 6 wins by the end of the 3rd season. Otherwise, this will also be seen as tanking and may result in removal from the league unless appealed.

Rule 2: The Deebo Rule will be allowed under the guideline of using one WR as part of your backfield lineup and overrides. If you choose to have that one, please designate him as your RB/WR flex.

Rule 3: TE positions must be filled by either a TE or an extra OL. No WRs or RBs.

Rule 4: For formations that have a fullback, you are allowed to use a 2nd RB, TE, or OL in the position. No WRs.
Rule 4a: For I Formation Power, the primary RB MUST be an RB. You can slot the 2nd or 3rd RB/FB position with one receiver, but ONLY one WR.

I know the first question many people will ask is "what about the gameplan, why haven't you addressed it?"
Simply put, I've read the threads about gameplanning and frankly, I don't think the league is ready to implement game plan rules. Many of you guys want to have a more realistic approach to the game while many of you guys prefer limited play calling. Me personally, I lean towards the middle, I understand both sides and I agree with both opinions. Both sides have their own set of flaws respectively.
I believe that by at least placing roster guidelines, most of the exploits are taken away. I hope you guys understand and will follow the roster guidelines throughout the season. Obviously, there is always room for improvement so take notes, ask questions, while we still have the offseason, and then hopefully we will all be ready for the regular season.

Nice job. MV, I really like them.
In ages past when I admined, having a k and p was not enough. I had to require k and p to be used at their positions.
Gms would sign a k/p and then not play them or place them in the depth chart at their position.
So I had to specify k and p start and depth chart as #1 for their positions.
I eventually also required at least one player of each position must play at that position.

Playas be playas lol.

Thank you for your time and effort!

Agree with this as far as win requirement. You can tell whether or not an owner is actively managing his team, and trying to improve (trades, free agents, transactions). So, I would leave it up to the League Admin as to whether or not an owner should be kicked based on non-compliance with the basic rules and lack of participation/active management.

Does this include the FB2 that runs the swing route in the PA Flats?

I think we could try that during the preseason and determine if it's too unbalanced or not. From me experience, I haven't had much success running a receiver with the play but maybe I don't have the best guy for the play.

Where are we designating this player as RB/WR Flex? I missed this the first time I read this and now not sure I understand where this is done

I just put mine at RB4 to make it clear. But I had this question as well.
