The Arizona Cardinals secured a 19-7 victory over the Los Angeles Rams on Sunday, maintaining an undefeated record early in the 2015 regular season. Under head coach Steven Edwards, the Cardinals improved to 2-0 and currently lead the division with a 1-0 division record.

Arizona took an early lead in the second quarter with a 38-yard field goal by kicker Terry McFalls, putting the home team on the board at 3-0. The Cardinals extended their lead minutes later when quarterback Frank Atkins connected with wide receiver Charles Butts for a 37-yard touchdown pass. McFalls added the extra point, pushing the score to 10-0.

McFalls contributed again before halftime, successfully kicking a 33-yard field goal to give the Cardinals a 13-0 advantage heading into the break.

The Rams responded in the third quarter following a fumble recovery by linebacker Anthony McClary. Quarterback Clyde Akers threw a 19-yard touchdown pass to tight end Hugo Wynn. The kick by Otis Otto was good, bringing the score to 13-7.

Arizona's offense responded well by keeping possession and controlling the clock, aided by effective punting from David Phillips, who contributed several key punts that shifted field position in Arizona's favor.

On the ground, running back Sylvester Fisher was a standout performer for the Cardinals, rushing for 115 yards and adding 50 receiving yards along with the team's lone receiving touchdown. Charles Butts also contributed significantly with 52 receiving yards and a rushing touchdown.

Defensively, the Cardinals recorded three sacks and effectively contained the Rams, who managed only 136 passing yards and 45 rushing yards. McClary led the Rams defensively with one sack and a forced fumble.

Arizona's disciplined play was evident in their low penalty count, committing just one penalty for 10 yards, while the Rams recorded two penalties for 12 yards.

The win moves the Cardinals to the top of their division standings as they continue their campaign with another home game next week.

The Rams, coached by Joseph Hurley, fall to 1-1 overall and 1-1 in the division, remaining third in the standings. Their offensive struggles, particularly in converting third downs, were notable in the loss.

Arizona's balanced attack and strong special teams performance, combined with a solid defensive showing, proved decisive in Sunday’s game.
