CHARLOTTE, N.C. — The Carolina Panthers extended their winning streak to two games with a commanding 58-0 victory over the Tampa Bay Buccaneers on Sunday at Bank of America Stadium. The Panthers improved to 6-2 overall and maintained a perfect 3-0 record within their division under head coach Dwayne Cabrera.

Carolina set the tone early with a touchdown pass from quarterback John Snapp to Major Horn just over two minutes into the game. Snapp finished with 229 passing yards and four touchdowns on 24 completions from 37 attempts. Running backs Larry Medina and Sterling Murray each scored on the ground, while wide receiver Derek Turner and tight ends George Velarde and Major Horn also contributed rushing touchdowns.

The Panthers’ offense was balanced and efficient, combining for 229 passing yards and 220 rushing yards on 46 carries. Medina led Carolina’s rushing attack with 90 yards and one touchdown and added 27 receiving yards and a receiving touchdown. Sterling Murray accounted for 60 rushing yards and 38 receiving yards with one receiving touchdown. Derek Turner caught passes for 31 yards and scored a rushing touchdown.

Special teams were productive as well, with kicker Frank Aoki converting all three field goal attempts, including a 41-yard and a 42-yard field goal. Carolina also scored a rare safety in the first quarter after Buccaneers’ quarterback David Corrigan was sacked for a nine-yard loss by Daniel Cooper.

The Panthers’ defense dominated the Buccaneers, recording 11 sacks and forcing one fumble. Safety Allan McCullough recovered the forced fumble. Tampa Bay’s offense managed just 96 passing yards and negative six rushing yards, with no points scored after electing to receive the opening kickoff. Buccaneers quarterback David Corrigan threw one interception and was sacked multiple times, contributing to the team’s continued struggles.

Tampa Bay remains at 3-5 after the loss, falling to second place in the division with a 2-1 divisional record. Carolina’s dominance bolsters their lead in the division as they continue to build a strong overall point differential, now totaling 235 points for and only 79 against.

Carolina took advantage of turnovers and mistakes early and maintained control throughout, never allowing Tampa Bay to mount any sustained offensive drives. The Panthers' discipline showed with only two penalties for 15 yards, compared to two penalties for 17 yards for the Buccaneers.

This result solidifies Carolina as the division leader and puts them in a favorable position as the regular season progresses. Coach Dwayne Cabrera's squad will look to build on this performance as they push toward the postseason.
