Coaching Contracts (Warning)

When offering a new contract, stop for a second and make sure that the position you are offering is displayed as it now defaults to Head Coach.
In the old interface if you searched for say a New Offensive Coordinator it would automatically put in that position to the subject field, this is now NOT the case.

I managed to fire a long time HC doing this before last season.

That happened to me as well and it hired for a head coach a guy I was trying to get as OC and then I got the head coach back but someone else snagged the OC. Another lesson learned! HaHa

well people should pay attention when they are hiring a coach/firing a coach or even signing a player/cutting a player regardless of what version they are using.

If not then really it could jump up and bite them on the backside.

Like they thought they were getting a better head coach than the one they have instead they get a worse or worser coach than the coach they did have.

though do have to say at least there is a risk because you could say there has been times in sports a team could a gamble and it either payed off or it sunk them.

Like when Michigan hired Steve Fisher and they won the national title in 1989 which payed off
or
Like when Arkansas hired Bobby Petrino and that backfired on them big time.

punisher what he's saying is when using the coach search function to look for a coach even if you search for an OC it offers the contract as a HC unless you change it(does this only in new version), that's not "not paying attention" that's a problem with the setup of the program

I've gone right off you, quite the arrogant fool. This was intended as advice for people to take care as the system has changed, not for you to climb up on your soapbox, careful you don't slip.

I've not been able to reproduce this actually, if I do a coach search in the new interface (Players/Coaches->Coach Search) and then offer a contract to one of the results from the coach card I'm getting the position that I searched for. It stores the most recent search, so if you have multiple windows open it will I am unable to get it to default to head coach in my testing.

Is there something different that you are doing that is getting this result?

That maybe what is happening. I've just tried to do it again and have the same results as you do.
Maybe a conflict between the two interfaces or as you say, multiple tabs/windows open might do it.
I put this in general as I didn't think it was a bug, but wanted to highlight the problem that I had encountered.
Thanks JDB
