The sleeping Giant has awaken.......Ya I said it first. haha We got off to a quick lead with that opening kickoff return for a TD. But couldn't make it happen. You guys have a nice run going. Good luck.
Week 8 is here and it is time to finally give up these Rams. Man what a project this was. But they are at least suitable for a rebuild.
GG Ravens! We limited you to two good drives in the game, and you still came up 2 yards from beating us! I definietly was sweating it out! I need to do something about my 2 minute defense.
Scouting your previous games, most of them just seems like you keep getting real bad breaks. It's nice to win but not one of them has been pretty by all means! You turned the ball over 5 times and almost still won!
There were some hella good games in week 8. The Game of the Week honors goes to the Green Bay and Philly contest which was an awesome one with the Packers holding off the upset minded Eagles 19-17 on a 54 yd FG by future Hall of Fame'r Carlos Beard on the last play of the game. Then we had Buffalo/Oakland, Kansas City/San Diego, Baltimore/Indianapolis, Denver/Tennessee, Dallas/49ers and NY Giants/Los Angeles games. And the upset of 1980 so far, Atlanta's huge upset win over Detroit. Lots of good ones there. Now lets look at the rest of Paydirt.
AFC West What has happened in the Wild Wild West? It has become the Wild Wild mess with exception of undefeated Kansas City(8-0). Denver(4-4) did win this week but still trails the Chiefs by 5 games. Kansas City has rid and hid from the rest of the West, seeking their first division championship since 1973. Oakland(3-5) will have to make their patented late season charge to make the playoffs. Speaking of charge, San Diego(2-5-1) has sunk to new lows to start this decade out. The Chargers have had a brutal schedule in the first half and it looks to be a lot easier going on the back side of 1980 schedule. It would be a huge comeback if they could pull off a playoff run though.
East The Beast in the East is no other than Miami(8-0) as they have once again answered the bell. The NY Jets(5-3) are on top of the wild card race if the playoffs were to start today. But they don't and the Jets would much rather have that East banner. But a ticket to the dance would be a nice consolation. Buffalo(3-5) was expected to challenge the powerhouse Dolphins but has fell flat this year. New England(2-6) just hasnt been able to get anything going so far.
North Beercloud's AFC Prediction's has Cleveland(7-1) representing the AFC in Super Bowl XI and so far they have not disappointed the crystal ball. They all about have the North wrapped up with Cincinnati(3-5), Baltimore(2-6) and Pittsburgh(2-6) all watching the Browns sail off into the sunset.
South The AFC South is starting to shape up as a two horse race. Get it.........the Colts........two horse. Aw come on. Houston(5-2-1) leads Indianapolis(4-4) as Jacksonville(2-6) and Tennessee(1-7) have slipped in the cow pies the Texans and Colts have left behind.
NFC East Dallas(5-3) has been in charge of this division in the last couple of years with a couple of light challenges by Philly(3-5) and the now lowly Washington(0-8). Although the Eagles are still in the mix and nearly took down powerhouse Green Bay, we have a new challenger for that NFC East title. The NY Giants(4-4). Yes I said it...........the NY Giants(insert a record album scratching here). The Giants have rattled off 4 straight wins to pull within one game of the division lead. Are the Cowboys worried? They should be. The Giants started out this 4 game win streak by defeating the Cowboys 16-7 back in week 5. Stay tuned to this one.
West The Seattle Seahawks(8-0) are one of the three last remaining undefeated teams left at the halfway mark. They have a commanding 5 game lead over the rest of this West that includes, Arizona(3-5), San Francisco(2-6) and lowly Los Angeles(1-7). They are Beercloud's Super Bowl XI favorites. Just sayin.......
North In one quarter of play in week 8, this division could look a whole lot different. Green Bay(7-1) wins on the last play of the game while Detroit(5-3) loses a 4th quarter lead and gets upset. In one quarter of play the race went from being tied to a 2 game lead for the Packers over the Lions. Will that quarter be the difference at seasons end? We will see. Minnesota(4-4) is still hanging in there with two fingers on the edge of that NFC North cliff, but there are feelings in the Paydirt media that Green Bay is going to step on one finger and Detroit will step on the other. Chicago(2-6) is already at the bottom of that cliff and will prolly just watch the Vikings hit the ground rather than try to catch them. It's the way they doing things in the Black n Blue.
South 1980's toughest division has a Battle Royale of their own going on. Tampa Bay(7-1) and Carolina(7-1) lead the way as New Orleans(6-2) drops the Monday Night game to the Bucs. The Saints will get their chance at revenge when the two meet in a couple of weeks. Atlanta(1-7) with rookie GM marinarul10 at the helm picked up their first win by upsetting Detroit.
Games to watch Week 9 Tampa Bay @ Green Bay - Battle Royale Carolina @ Detroit Dallas @ Philadelphia Houston @ New Orleans - Monday Night Football
