Trade Rule Violation.
Current disciplinary ideas: 1. Cleveland trades the 1985 Round 1 (NYJ) back to NJ in exchange for CB Dwight King. 2. I think we should just let the trade stand the Jets will have a 1st round pick in a few days ************************************************************************************************************* Cleveland Browns sends: Andrew Overby (WLB) Dwight King (CB) 1983 Round 4 Selection 14 1983 Round 3 Selection 24 New York Jets sends: Michael Mendenhall (LG) Jacob Jennings (WLB) 1985 Round 1 (New York Jets) 1985 Round 2 (New York Jets) (This is an automated message. If you believe this trade warrants additional investigation, please contact the league admin.)

That is correct. Trade is voided.

Since the NY Jets used the 3rd round draft already which renders the void option useless, we are going to have to figure out a fair punishment for both teams to rectify the situation.
Since one of the trading GM's is involved in the trade we will discuss the options in this thread and all GMs including the two involved in the trade are welcome to weigh in. So fire away and lets come to a conclusion. |

Like all three can't go in one trade or all three can't go in one offseason. Alternatively, I would eliminate the rule. We have a trade review process. If any of the trades involving first round picks appears unfair, that can be challenged already. If no such challenge is warranted, why shouldn't an owner be able to trade any pick(s) at any time? |

The trade review process is already insufficient to void "bad" trades. For example, a trade consummated just prior to a game being played (or a draft choice expended) does not permit a sufficient amount of time for a review to be conducted or the trade voided. Whether that argues in favor of scrapping the trade challenge process altogether or clamping down further is worth a discussion. |

We want to find a solution to this current issue.
Please use the Rules Debate thread to discuss and changes etc... so we can keep this thread as clean as possible. Will give this another 48 hrs before we all vote on any ideas. |
