Dallas Cowboys Personnel Moves!!!!
by jgcruz @ 10/16/2020 9:27 am
I have asked the new owner of the Dallas Cowboys for a detailed explanation of why so many personnel moves. There were about 20 players cut - including several young players who will garner numerous waiver claims. Dallas now has 45 players and little to no cap space to sign players.

I am going to delay the next phase for a day so that we can get this sorted out unless we get a reasonable explanation ASAP.

It looks like he made moves to save cap space. He was -40m in the cap and AI would have done something similar with the cuts.

That might be the case. If it is, I propose that we give him an opportunity to re-sign some of the players he waived (even at a minimum salary). My goal is to keep the league competitive and he did not create the salary cap issue.

He probably put the team in cap trouble by dropping all those players to begin with

Correction - I only found four guys out of the 22 he released that I would consider putting a waiver claim on.

I agree with Salty_Watermelon. I think he did it to fix cap issues. There's nothing wrong with what he did. Let's move on.

Hopefully, Reeses will chime in so that we can move on. If he is cognizant and happy with what he has done, I agree. The team is also in salary cap **** next season as well.

Stop messing around with owners decisions on how to run their teams!

His team is fine the way it is right now in terms of cap space. It's going to be a rebuild project and should be expected after AI signs so many bad contracts. Reclaiming the players that he just released will put him back in cap room ****. Let them all go to FA and if he wants to resign any of those he released or other free agents, he'll do that. He's only 1 player away from the mandated 46 player roster.

Totally uncalled for, Warhog. As administrator I have reversed only one trade on my own volition - which was objectively unfair. I have not challenged any other trades or otherwise taken any action without a league vote. And I have certainly not commented on any team's approach to the game.

In this case, we have someone who is practically brand new to MFN (he joined two years ago and played one season) and new to Paydirt. I see he cut about 20 players and I immediately asked if he had a plan seeing as how those moves have put him in salary cap **** for both this and next season.

Salty_Watermelon rightly made the point that he might have made all the cuts due to an already existing salary cap issue when he joined the league. That's a fair point, to which I replied that (as a courtesy to the new GM) we allow him the opportunity to re-sign some of the players he cut in order for him to maintain his competitiveness. As CrazyRazor pointed out there are at least 4 players that he would consider worthy of putting in a waiver claim. I agree with that assessment.

The new GM could easily re-sign four or five of the players he waived, get over the minimum number of players required, remain competitive with his roster and stay under the salary cap.

We haven't yet heard from Reeses about this and I'd like him to weigh in. If he simply wants to move on, so be it. My goal, however, is to keep the league competitive (roster wise). It makes it that much easier to have a GM for all teams, especially if someone leaves.

In any event, I don't appreciate your comment about my messing around with telling other GMs how to run their teams. It's simply untrue.
