If I wasn't clear, I will be happy to cut them all and expose them to the league. I claimed them on the remote chance that that would keep them from being claimed by anyone else with a better record than mine. I'm happy that no one did, but I wasn't sure if that would happen. In any event, they will be free agents at the next midweek phase. If ReesesKing indicates between now and then that he would like to take a stab at signing them, I hope the league will honor that request.

Anyway, there should be no harm done since you (and presumably others) refrained from claiming them off waivers. Now you will have a chance to bid for them as free agents - which would have been the case anyway if no one else had claimed them.

About a week or so ago, when I took over the New England team - I looked at both Dallas and N.E. They were in about the exact same shape in regards to salary cap ****. I pretty much did what it looks like the Dallas team did. Not speaking for Dallas, but here was my rationale:

This season was about keeping whatever pieces that were possible to keep. The AI had created a lot of contracts that just didn't make sense - way overpaying on grizzled veterans that shouldn't even be on a roster. I decided to cut all of them, and also cut any player that wouldn't be able to help the team in 3 seasons (since season #2 will be the season New England pays the price for all the bad contracts.) I know going into next season, there is no way to compete for the top tier free agents.

Yes, some of the players cut will be better than the ones on the roster this season and next - but it was a conscious decision to be less than mediocre and get in great cap condition this season and next in order to be in great position in 3 seasons from now.

Like I said, Dallas was in serious cap trouble - and I think I understand ReesesKing strategy.

I understand your rationale and have no quarrel with it. In fact, I appreciate your willingness to take on the challenge. My concern was heightened by the fact that ReesesKing is virtually new to to the game and unknown to us and wanted to get a better understanding of what had happened. BTW - We still have not heard from ReesesKing.

Thanks.

You make a good point - that depth of strategy is impressive from someone new to the game. It would be interesting to hear from ReesesKing.

I have no intention to delay the sim at this time.
