I also do this. WR low in the RB depth, rbs low on the wr depth (if capable). Mostly because i don't go full tilt on over-rides like i used to. But I "could" spot check any player to be the #1 at any position without having that player at that position in my depth chart. I used to do that, if I had more time to perfect my overs I would still do that.
Depth chart + misc tab fatigue settings are inconsistent, but easier than chasing the "right player, right position, right play" overrides I used to spend so much time databasing and investigating.
