The Paydirt Report: Week 9The second half of the season is underway and it's bout ready to get serious up in here. Week 9 was a week of story lines. Three teams remain undefeated. Kansas City, Miami and Seattle. A Giants team that just keeps winning, a rookie GM with a not so good team wins two in a row and a past Paydirt Super Bowl Champion comes back home but with another team. All this and more as we dive into the rest of the league in week 9.
AFCWest
Kansas City(9-0) continues to roll. Just to show everyone their late season run last year was no fluke. Denver(5-4) wins to stay in the middle of the Wild Card hunt. San Diego(3-5-1) finally caught a break in their tough season. And speaking of tough seasons, Oakland(3-6) can't catch a break. They might have to win out from here to have a playoff chance.
East
Miami(9-0) also continues to roll. The 1977 world champions are looking extremely tough. They will be tested as they still have both Kansas City and Seattle on their schedule. The NY Jets(6-3) win their 2nd straight to keep pace, but they are most likely bidding for a Wild Card spot. Buffalo(4-5) has finally got it turned around it seems. After a bumpy start they have won the last 3 out of 4. New England(2-7) has lost 3 straight.
North
Don't go to sleep on Cleveland(8-1). With a loss on their record it's easy to loose track of em with the 3 undefeated teams stealing the headlines. But they are a force to be reckoned with.
Cincinnati(3-6), Baltimore(2-7) and Pittsburgh(2-7) are in spoiler mode.
South
The race in the South has gotten interesting. Houston(5-3-1) holds a slim half game lead over the surging Colts(5-4). Indianapolis has won 3 straight to close up a gap that looked like the Texans had no intention of giving up. But now we have a race. Jacksonville(2-7) and Tennessee(1-8) have only upsets on their minds.
NFCEast
Dallas(7-2) is churning out the wins but just can't seem to shake the NY Giants(5-4) who have won 5 in a row. Philadelphia(3-6) has fallin off while Washington(0-9) is looking for a win to save their legendary GM blackflys job.
West
Seattle(9-0) continues to lower the boom on their opponents. The Seahawks have outscored their foes by an incredible 333-75. Arizona(3-6), San Francisco(2-7) and Los Angeles(1-8) are all looking towards the off-season. Another story line comes out of Los Angeles as the Rams hired a former Super Bowl Champion in setherick. It will not take him very many seasons to turn that franchise along. He has some assets to work with and it will be fun watching the Rams building process.
North
Green Bay(7-2) took a heartbreaking defeat against one of the other perennial powerhouses Tampa Bay. With Detroit(6-3) winning a thriller against Carolina this divisions race has been filled with drama over the last few weeks. Good stuff to watch. Minnesota(4-5) has lost their 3rd straight to fade from the North contention. Chicago(3-6) wins this week.
South
Tampa Bay(8-1) wins the Battle Royale over Green Bay to grab sole possession of the South lead. New Orleans(8-2) won a big game against Houston to hang onto the Bucs coat tails while Carolina's(7-2) tough loss to Detroit drops them out of a first place tie. Atlanta(2-7) wins their 2nd straight. Has anybody told Atlanta's GM marinarul10, that a rookie GM shouldn't be winning with a team like that in a league like this. I guess not cause he's doing it.
