GG jgcruz. After my interception return for a TD to tie, that game turned into a complete offensive shitshow. Interceptions, bad play calling, missed field goal. And how many passes of mine did you knock down, 30? More?

I'm glad we got that out of the way. Tough luck for you for sure. The missed FG for you couldn't have come at the wrong time.

Both secondaries had field days. We had 26 knockdowns to be exact. But you had 19 as well. And an INT for a TD, as you mentioned.

Other than that, the game ball went to my special teams. Seven punts inside the 20 kept you pinned way back - which was a good thing considering how much time you controlled the ball.

The coup de grace was the 57 yd FG with no time remaining to win the game. It was a career long for K Jason Kidd, who hasn't missed a kick this season. (Jinx!!)

GL the rest of the way.

P.S. Injuries to key personnel have kept me on the edge of my seat all season.

Ive been posting about the increased degree of game outcome variability in 4.5. There's a lot of frustration with it. Seems like sometimes player ratings/values dont have as much of a bearing on play outcomes as they did in previous versions. QB performance is a game to game dice roll with the threat of throwing 3 or more interceptions in a game looming. Sacks have been cut in half or more, so those dominant DE's are not getting to eat anymore. PI and Facemask penalties have been increased and can kill a defensive effort, especially when they happen on 3rd down when you have got the stop that you needed. They can be as devastating as a fumble. After the Pack lost this last game, there are no unbeaten teams in Paydirt after 7 games into the season, dont remember having seen that before in any of the 12 leagues that I am in, which lends itself to the increased variability of play and game outcomes.

The Paydirt Report: Week 7

There was a plethora(a 3 amigos term. lol) of great games in week 7. The Game of the Week was a tough one but Houston over San Francisco bested the Cincinnati / Philadelphia tie, Atlanta over Carolina thriller, Tennessee's 4th quarter comeback win over the Jets, New Orleans late victory over New England, Arizona's stunning win over the previously undefeated Green Bay Packers and San Diego's Battle Royale overtime victory over Cleveland.

Houston's QB Clancy remains the hottest QB in Paydirt and making an early bid at the leagues MVP. But the 49ers would strike first in this one on a 54 yd TD pass from QB Grogan to WR Mosher on their first drive which was 5 plays for 85 yds that only took 2:14. Houston would answer in the 2nd QT with a QB Clancy to WR G Smith 42 yd connection. Both teams would swap FG's to enter the locker room tied at 10.

San Francisco would strike first again in the second half on another QB Grogan TD pass. This time to RB Spence for 39 yds. Like a good heavy weight fight, the Texans would counter with another QB Clancy to WR G Smith TD pass. This one from 46 yds to tie it up 17-17 heading into the 4th quarter.

After trading punches the 49ers put together what they thought would be a game winning drive scoring with 1:39 left in the game on QB Grogan's 3rd TD pass on the day. Again to RB Spence, this was for a 16 yd TD giving the Texans back the lead at 23-17 pending the extra point. And why do we mention extra points here? You guessed it, cause the 49ers kicker newcomb missed it. A cruicial one it would be. That would give QB Clancy the ball with 1:33 left on the clock and 80 yds to score, dare I say.......... Paydirt. QB Clancy would put together a 10 play 80 yd drive that would be finished off with his 3rd TD on the day. WR Adams would be on the receiving end of this TD pass for 13 yds and :36 left to go. But wait we still have an extra point to go and Houston's kicker Periera has already missed on chip shot today. He drills it through and the Texans would win their 6th straight on the year.

Now on to the rest of the Paydirt world.

AFC
West
San Diego(6-1) wins Battle Royale over Cleveland to keep pace with Oakland(6-1) who throttled Pittsburgh 30-0. Kansas City(3-4) defeated Denver(3-4) in a divisional battle of their own.

East
Miami(5-2) regains the lead in the East with a huge divisional win over Buffalo(4-3). The Patriots(2-5) and New York Jets(1-6) both lost close games in week 7.

North
Cleveland's(5-2) tough loss allows Baltimore(4-3) to climb within a game of the AFC North division lead. The Ravens have won 3 straight and will face Cleveland next week in a colossal battle. Pittsburgh(3-4) loses ground with a loss while Cincinnati(2-4-1) puts one in the tie column.

South
Houston(6-1) opens up a 2 game lead over Jacksonville(4-3) who lost their 2nd straight. Indianapolis(2-5) loses and Tennessee(1-6) celebrates their first win of the year.

NFC
East
Washington(5-2) regains their share of the NFC East lead with a win and a loss by the new York Giants(5-2). Washington won a key division matchup with Dallas(2-5) and Philadephia(1-5-1) tied Tennessee.

West
Seattle(6-1) wins to hold a 2 game lead over Los Angeles(4-3) who is on a 3 game roll. Arizona(3-4) pulls off the upset of the year while San Francisco(0-7) falls just short of their first win of the season.

North
Green Bay(6-1) was the last undefeated team left in 78' until this week loss. But with a 3 game lead over Minnesota(3-4) there is little to be worried about in the North. Both Detroit(1-6) and Chicago(1-6) go down in defeat.

South
Tampa Bay(6-1) wins again and continues to hold a slim lead over red hot Atlanta(5-2) who just made it 5 in a row since they found a kicker. They won a key NFC South divisional battle over Carolina(3-4) and dont look now but New Orleans(3-4) just won their 2nd in a row.

As we head into the turn, here are the games to watch in Week 8
San Diego @ Oakland - Battle Royale
Green Bay @ NY Giants
Seattle @ Houston - Battle Royale
Washington @ Carolina
Atlanta @ Tampa Bay
Baltimore @ Cleveland

Nice upset Cards/CNorm, I was surprised when the 58 yd FG attempt was called with 5+ min to go in the game and having all three TO's left, thought we would punt in that situation. My kicker is as good as any, 100 leg strenght & accuracy, and i was surprised to see him come up short on that shot. We would've had a better chance with the punt and field position with that amount of time left. I guess the Ai considers it "end of half" with 5 min left, as the FG distance was more than what I had in the MIsc settings. GG and good job by your defense, kept us out of FG range several times. couple of penalties also really hurt us. GLROTS,

Apologies to Nuggets/broncos for the snub...no harm intended just been a busy week for me sir. I watched in pain and agony ready to Heave on almost every play..8 INT's and a fumble between us..I may not make it till I get fired as the Chiefs GM. I'm pretty disgusted with MFN. Tell Me WHO in their right mind thought this BS version was agood choice. IDK *** the higher ups are thinking. Maybe they want this game to fold! I'm really frustrated!!!! Not a quitter.. Now that I'm done bitching...lol.GG sir! Hope you stay with us in the AFC west. Best of luck the rest ofthe way....... a very frustrated and angry MM

GG Bears/crimsonwolf..Preston is a ***** out player. you have some work to do...but you can get there. The chiefs really needed a breakout game and I was terrified by the start 3 INT's in the first 4 Mins!!!! Plz know that I get no pleasure in kicking a guy when he is down. I just know that after a real tough first Half of the season this game might build the confidence we need to face an even tougher second half. It's not a horse race yet (Raiders,Chargers,Broncos)....BUT if still might be? MM

GG HELLB,

We leveled the series 1-1 and got a big divisional win.

Tolbert`s knee needed a ice pack after another game full of kicking FG`s.

PI are killing drives and fully agree with MM`s comments in above post. The game has come down to field position and penalties.
