I have noticed that the DL has much more success against a poor OL, which is good.

I have also noticed that a blitzing LB or CB gets to the QB pretty easily on a consistent basis, especially if they have speed.

The games where my team has given up a bunch of sacks is usually due to a combination of:
sub-par OL
too many passes (usually because I'm in 2nd/3rd and long a lot)
facing a D with one or two great DL and/or blitz heavy scheme

This is exactly what I'm pointing to.

Sacks are going to happen. Speed is a crucial component in Sacks happening. Fast Defenses will Sack, fast Defenses with Pass Rush will Sack more, but Fast Defenses vs. Bad OLs will Sack the most.

You also speak to the point of you finding yourself Sacked more when you are passing more than your usual rate.

Ray does bring up a good point, DTs are becoming more effective. Which is actually a good thing. Also, it doesn't take a Fast DT to make an impact, you can get 10+ Sacks a Season out of a 20 Speed DT, like I do in MFN-7... despite him having to fight for Sacks since he has a DE, WLB and SLB each taking 20 Sacks themselves.

I get massive Sacks... but I get them by feasting off the weakest OLs, the worst QBs, and the Teams that don't realize you're allowed to Run with the Football.

Quality Teams do not go off for a Combined 22 Sacks. It takes an Advantage being exploited, a Match Up that isn't favorable. And, of course, Skilled Defenders.

That's not a Code Issue. That's a Team Building Issue, an Owner Issue.

Now, I will say a 195 pound DE blowing past Quality LTs was an Issue. THAT was a Code Issue.

There ARE Code Issues in this Game, but a lot of things people THINK are Code are really simple Team Building/Parity Issues.

You played that Game in a Year 1 League though. We're on Allocation Rosters. NONE of our Teams are good, my included. Some are better than others, obviously. But we're 32 Teams with Bad Rosters right now, we'll get Sack Games like this.

In my short time with MFN, I've found the nickel blitz to be very powerful. Even if their is a RB in there to block, the chances of success are still pretty high. Especially if you have a 100SP, 100ACC guy you can drop in there. If you make sure that the blitz comes from the right as well, QBs left, that also works against the run with so many rushing plays going in that direction.

And that kinda goes back to my point about winning at MFN rather than football. IRL, you'd just tell your QB to throw to where the blitz is coming from. In MFN, it's gonna be what its gonna be.

Sacks are definitely too high still, I'm going to try to figure out what's going on and tone them down in a hot patch.

But if you scout it, in the new release it will kill you in hot reads.

i think the answer to sacks is the qb's getting rid of the ball quicker. there's no reason the qbs should hold on to the ball so long.

This is certainly part of the problem. A lot of Sacks would be negated by simply having the ball out on the 3rd step in the drop back. Hit the spot, release the ball.

I will say that in Real Life not all QBs are good at that. Some guys just hesitate, they can not process the information fast enough. Which is fine, IF that were the issue here. If Dumb QBs were getting Sacked like this, cool. But when our Tom Brady's and Peyton Manning's are taking these Sacks... not so cool.

Intelligence needs to play a more vital role in QBs, as does Play Book Knowledge, both Offense and Defense for the QB (Knowing his play, knowing the play he's facing).

I'm not sure I would be in favor of this at the moment. It takes WAY too long for an offensive player to gain familiarity with a defensive play.
