Not much drama in our game this week with Pittsburgh. Interesting that we got back to back games though preseason week 4 and regular season week 1 vs Pittsburgh. Maybe the Bengals will make it tough next week, they put up 51 on a pretty good Broncos defense. Denver finished last season allowing only 216 yards per game best in the league and only allowed 170 points 2nd in the league. They allowed 551 yards and 51 points to the Bengals in week 1 which is worst in the league. I guess we will find out next week if that offense is for real or if it was a fluke.
GG Packers.. If it wasn't for your special teams, defense, and running game I think we had ya! Positives for the game - they didn't block everyone of our punts! Things to work on moving forward- How to run a two minute drill.
GG Mitch! Your Giants did a great job on us, especially the defense. Kline is an excellent QB and yeah, if it wasnt for the spec teams punt rush, you prob would have beat us. GL rest of the season, you def have the potential to get into the playoffs. We've got some corrections coming as a result of that one, :)
How about that AFC South? At least for one week, the division deserves recognition.
4-0. All teams allowed under 10 points in their games. 3 of the top 4 defenses for the week!
Are they for real? Is it a fluke? Or is it because 3 teams played against the AFC East?
I'm not expecting to have as much luck the rest of the season. Injuries have hit my team hard and I'm still learning the finer techniques to game planning

1981 kicks off it's season with a couple of big games, a Super Bowl contender throwing out some early season smack talk and the AFC South is shouting out to the rest of the league......were over here...........
The Big Games: San Diego edged out New Orleans 20-17. With the NFC South getting tougher and the AFC Wild Wild West getting tamer, the Saints prolly needed the win out of the gate more than the Chargers did. But that didnt happen as San Diego is looking to rebound from last season which was only the second time they did not make the playoffs in franchise history.
Miami defeated Cleveland 20-12 in a battle between franchises that have dominated their perspective divisions. The Dolphins get the early jump on the AFC East as the rest of the division stumbled in week 1. While the Browns loss sets them a game behind their rivals Cincinnati in the AFC North.
Jacksonville took care of Buffalo 19-7 to start off on the right foot. While the Jags win puts them into a log jam for the lead in the AFC South. Buffalo starts the season trailing Miami which is a place they do not want to be as the Dolphins are always tough to catch.
The AFC South: Speaking of the AFC South log jam at the top, I can not remember a time when the whole division were all undefeated at the same time. I went to the library to do some research on the matter but apparently the AFC stat book was already checked out. Rumor has it that DJSim22 was seen there just hours before.
Early season smack talk: The 1981 season is in its infancy and there is already a lil smack talk going around. The Seattle Seahawks GM was quoted after their route of the Pittsburgh Steelers saying, "Not much drama in our game this week with Pittsburgh, Maybe the Bengals will make it tough next week". Seattle ownership was asked about their GM's statement and all they said was that awest827's statement was misquoted and taken out of context. Either way Im sure that is already pinned up on the Bengals bulletin board. The Bengals battered last seasons AFC Conference Champion 51-37.

To start the 1981 season the Rookie of the Year race is between Lucky, pronfl51 and dd35.
On the Hot Seat Watch are GM's: cyclonelomax and alamric7 need to reach .500 to be safe. DJSim22, CrimsonWolfZ and jmvda need to make the playoffs to be safe..
But remember if there isn't anyone on the waiting list and no Paydirt B GM's apply for the possible openings by the season end stage, your jobs are safe. We have had several GM's survive the axe for this reason.
Since we have some interest in Paydirt GM's moving from their current teams to take a job with another franchise within the league, I'm going to implement a subtle change in protocol for vacated teams.
Usually I give Paydirt B GM's 48 hrs to apply for a Paydirt vacancy before I send it public. I'm going to tighten that up to 24 hrs and if there are no takers then Paydirt GM's will have 24 hrs to apply before it goes to the public forums. This should also add a few twists on the drama train which is always fun eh.

Just so we're clear. If this Rams team manages to get to .500 this season, I expect GM of the Year and a parade. Why'd y'all let the last guy in the league?

GG Ravens/Almiric7......I was away and did not game plan....So we got real lucky......despite the 2 INT's (3 if you count the one called back) and two lost fumbles we were able to squeak by......a real sloppy game for us. I guess the bright spot for us was that we kept you out of the end zone...I was happy to see on 3 of the 4 FG's you were inside the 10 and our defense held...Good luck the rest of the way....Hope you get to .500 it would be a shame to lose you............................MM
