The Paydirt Report: Week 5Plenty of good games to be had in week 5. But Carolina's overtime win over Houston topped em all and got the Game of the Week honors. A huge upset in the Big Apple as the NY Football Giants took down Dallas. Kansas City and Oakland was a classic. Typical for the Wild Wild West. Miami, New Orleans and Detroit all survived nail biters. We have some good races going on early in the season so lets get to the rest of Paydirt.
AFCWest
Kansas City(5-0) remains in the unbeaten ranks with a win over Oakland(2-3) in a thriller. Denver(3-2) holds the second spot with a convincing win over an unusually struggling San Diego(1-3-1) team.
East
The race is on between front runner and division favorite Miami(5-0) and NY Jets(4-1) who both won. Buffalo's(1-4) loss to NY Jets sinks them to the bottom of the AFC East with New England(1-4).
North
Cleveland(4-1) opened up a two game lead over the rest of the division. Baltimore(2-3) jumped into a tied for 2nd with a win, while slumping Pittsburgh(2-3) loses their 3rd straight after starting the season 2-0. Cincinnati(1-4) struggles continue through week 5.
South
The crazy South is once again........crazy. Houston's(2-2-1) overtime loss to Carolina threw this division into utter chaos. But we wouldn't have it any other way, would we? The Jags(2-3) and Indy(2-3) sit only a half a game back of the division lead. Tennesse(1-4) gets into the win column and that puts them only 1.5 in back of Houston.
NFCEast
With the NY Giants(1-4) win over Dallas(3-2) and Philadelphia's(3-2) 2nd win in a row, the division is knotted up. Washington(0-5) losing trend continues and has sole possession of the cellar. It's a cold damp place that nobody wants to be in. But apparently Washington has found the wine down there and doesn't want to give it up.
West
Seattle's(5-0) steam train continues while the rest of the division sleeps. Arizona(2-3) leads the rest with San Francisco(1-4) and Los Angeles(1-4) in heavy slumber.
North
What a battle we have here. The North featuring Green Bay(4-1) who has won 4 straight and Detroit(4-1) who's only loss by the way of the Packers in one hellva game two weeks ago, sit on top of the North. Minnesota(3-2) drops to 1 game back with their loss to Tampa Bay. Chicago(1-4) trails the race by 3.
South
The NFC South is the AFC's South's evil twin. While the AFC's version is knotted up by a series of wins and losses and ties, the NFC's version only knows wins. Tampa Bay(5-0) leads the brigade with Carolina(4-1) and New Orleans(4-1) hot on the trail. Atlanta(0-5) who is currently GM-less is out of the picture 5 games back.
