The Paydirt Report: Week 2Paydirt's 1st Monday Night Football game turned out to b the Game of the Week as well. The Cowboys knocked off the Raiders in an overtime thriller. Carolina put up 55 on Atlanta while Minnesota gets out of the gate with a 2-0 start, Kansas City is the new king of the hill in the Wild Wild West. There's a lil shuffle from the leagues norm but It's early yet. So lets see what happened in the rest of Paydirt.
AFCWest
As noted above, the Chiefs(2-0) lead the division, picking up where they left off late in 1979. Denver(1-1) stays on their tail with a win. San Diego(0-1-1) and Oakland(0-2) know that they can not fall too far behind in this division even though there is a lot of football to be played.
East
Miami(2-0) takes command of the East as Buffalo(1-1) and New England(0-2) go down in week 2. NY Jets(1-1) rebounded from last weeks loss by knocking off the Chargers in a big win.
North
Cleveland(2-0) and surprising Pittsburgh(2-0) are on top of the North. Both Baltimore(1-1) and Cincinnati(0-2) lose in week 2.
South
Jacksonville(1-1) wins to take sole possession of first in this wacky division. Houston(0-1-1), Indianapolis(0-2) and Tennessee(0-2) all go down in defeat.
NFCEast
With Dallas'(2-0) thrilling victory over the Raiders, they hold serve and remain on top of the East. But Philadelphia(1-1) stomps division foe Washington(0-2) who is in a tail spin for the last couple years. The Eagles look like a team with a purpose this year. The NY Giants(0-2) on the other hand continues to hold onto the cellar. The Giants traded away their 1st round draft picks the next two seasons with hopes of turning this franchise into a winner. But so far they have nothing to show for it. They also dont have their 2nd, 3rd and 4th round picks next year or their 2nd and 4th rounders in 82'. The top brass is getting nervous.
West
Seattle(2-0) is two games into the defense of their 79 title. So far there has been no competition for them. Their schedule looks a lil on the weak side with the exception of a handful of games. They should continue to dominate the West. San Francisco(1-1), Los Angeles(1-1) and Arizona(0-2) all lose in week 2.
North
This division is shaping up to be an interesting one. With both Detroit(2-0) and Minnesota(2-0) on top of the board, Green Bay(1-1) might have a lil tougher time defending their division title. But weve seen this scenario before with Minnesota and Detroit jumping out early and Green Bay stumbling out of the gate. But in the end the Packers seem to gobble em up on their way to banner after banner. Will this season be different. Stay tuned to your bat channels. Chicago(0-2) doesn't seem to mind what's going on above them.
South
This is by far the toughest division in the NFC and one of the toughest in Paydirt in the last few seasons. Tampa Bay(2-0), Carolina(2-0) and New Orleans(2-0) are still slugging it out. I expect they will continue this fist fight well into December. Atlanta(0-2) is off to a rough start but with a rookie GM that's to be expected in a division like this.
