The Paydirt Report: Week 4With the 1st quarter of the 1981 season in the books we have some interesting races shaping up. The game of the week went to the San Diego and Baltimore game, with the Chargers coming out on top with a last second FG to win it. The Detroit / Minnesota game was also a good one. The winless Vikings out played the undefeated Lions. But Detroit put up 14 points in the 4th to come from behind and capturing a 20-21 victory. Now lets see what happened in the rest of the PFL.
AFC West
Is the Wild Wild West wild again? I dont know. But it is a tight race early on regardless. San Diego(3-1) grabbed sole possession of the division lead with their thriller with Baltimore. Denver(2-2) with their win and Kansas City(2-2) who dropped one this week, trail the Chargers by one. Oakland(1-3) gets into the win column and trails by 2 games.
East
Buffalo(3-1) and Miami(3-1) both win to stay neck n neck for the AFC East lead. New England(1-3) lost to Buffalo and surprisingly the NY Jets(0-4) remain winless.
North
Cleveland(3-1) and Cincinnati(3-1) are the two usual suspects in the North. Both win to keep pace of each other while Baltimore(1-3) loses a close one and Pittsburgh's(0-4) troubles continue.
South
Houston(4-0) remains the only undefeated team in the AFC through 4 weeks. But Jacksonville(3-1) has gotten off to a good start in 81' and is staying on the Texans tail. Tennessee(2-2) dropped one this week to fall to 2 games back in the division and Indianapolis(1-3) trails the pack.
NFCEast
Dallas(4-0) continues to control the division with the NY Giants(2-2) trying to hold on as close as they can til they meet again at the end of the year. Philadelphia(1-3) picked up a win for their new GM Lucky which is his first Paydirt Career win. Washington's(0-4) woes continue.
West
The Seattle(4-0) freight train continues to roll while the rest of the division in stuck on the tracks. Arizona(1-3), Los Angeles(1-3) and San Francisco(1-3) are all at the bottom of the heap.
North
Detroit(4-0) survives a scare against division foe Minnesota(0-4). While Green Bay(3-1) keeps pace with a win of their own. These two will face off for the first time this season in what should be a must see game. Chicago(2-2) who is playing better this season dropped one to Houston.
South
The Super South is all knotted up at the top. Carolina(3-1) defeated division rival Tampa Bay(3-1) while Atlanta's(3-1) party had a hiccup against Denver. New Orleans(0-4) has yet t win a game this year so far. Nobody could have saw that coming. But there is a long season ahead of us yet.
