The Paydirt Report: Week 5With 3 undefeated teams left (all in the NFC) after week 5, we start to get into the meat and potatoes part of the season. Dallas, Seattle and Detroit are the last men standing after Houston went down to Indianapolis.
Buffalo's QB who they acquired from New England is off to a good start with 17 TD's and 8 Int's. But still not enough to upstage last years offensive player of the year Seattle's QB John Sullivan who has 18 TD's and 1 Int. Cleveland's Richard Stovell is half way to a 1000 yds rushing already with 545. Philadelphia's WR George Riemann is having a stellar year thus far. He has 35 catches for 892 yds and 9 TD's. An incredible pace thru week 5. With the races starting to heat up, let's see what's going on in the rest of the Paydirt.
AFCWest
Winner Winner Chicken Dinner in the West this week. Everybody wins. That leave San Diego(4-1) at the top with Denver(3-2) and Kansas City(3-2) trailing by a game. Oakland(2-3) has a 2 game win streak going on after an 0-3 start to stay in the thick of things.
East
Buffalo's(3-2) share of the East was short lived as their loss this week coupled with a Miami(4-1) win puts the Dolphins back on top. The NY Jets(1-4) gets in the win column in a big way while New England(1-4) loses their 2nd in a row.
North
Cincinnati(4-1) takes over the North over Cleveland(3-2) as the Browns lose a tough one to KC in Paydirt's Game of the Week. Baltimore(1-4) and Pittsburgh(0-5) both go down in defeat.
South
The AFC South is looking a lil saucy in 81'. Houston(4-1) loses their first game of the year but hold onto a slim 1 game lead over Jacksonville(3-2) who also lost and couldn't take advantage of Houston and Indianapolis(2-3) beating up on each other. Tennessee(2-3) loses their 2nd straight but is still in the hunt.
NFCEast
Dallas(5-0) is off to one of their best starts in franchise history. Although you really can't start better than 5-0 after 5 weeks no can you. The NY Giants(3-2) are hanging right there hoping the Cowboys slip. Philadelphia(1-4) loses a week after getting their rookie GM his first win. Everybody in Washington(0-5) is shaking their heads.
West
Seattle(5-0) wins a tough one over Tampa Bay to remain undefeated. Arizona(2-3) picks up a win with hopes of grabbing a playoff win. San Francisco(1-4) drops their 4th in a row and since Los Angeles(1-4) called their shot, they have lost 3 straight. setherick has gotta be kicking himself for putting the ole jinx on the Rams. Still a long ways to go though.
North
Detroit(5-0) imposed their will on the NFC North division with a key victory over defending Super Bowl champions Green Bay(3-2). They will meet again, but unless the Lions slip up it wont matter. Right now Detroit is playing lights out. I dont know what it is, but every time Chicago(3-2) and Minnesota(0-5) get together it turns out to be a heck of a game. The Bears are off to a good start sits tied for 2nd woith the Packers. The Vikings are winless through 5 but if you play them it's prolly best to not look past em. They can put one in the loss column for you.
South
My oh my. They are whistling Dixie down south. Cause the big bad wolf of the division is not in their usual slot at the top. Both Carolina(4-1) and Atlanta(4-1) have taken a seat on top of the division. With the big bad wolf Tampa Bay(3-2) trailing in 3rd. New Orleans(0-5) on the other hand is winless which is totally unexpected. They are in win-now mode for sure.
