With the trade score of the WR so high, trading for just a first was unlikely.
Even then, there's no guarantee that the draft pick will bloom.
While negotiating with him, I'm sure 500 has thought about it and he probably sees that at that position of the draft, this was far more the better value for his team than through the draft.
If I could've given an additional pick or player, I would have as well. Trade meter is a good suggestion, but handicaps are built in it as well.

this exactly what my mindset is I need two main positions this offseason a SLB and RB to replace Buck the SLB im staring at is likely going way before the pick and the RBs are all risk i hate picking high volatile players and therfore i decided to trade the pick for a player i can use at both WR and RB and still get quite postive runs from him the 1st rounder obviously was going to be apart of the trade to help clear more cap and because of his trade value giving up more would have to happen in order to make it. I refused to trade other players because of how thin most positions were for me. i chose the LT because he was not only a backup but easily replaceable the 2nd rounder is almost 3 years away which will have little impact for me at that time with all the other picks i have for 1985 thats why the deal is where it was. I wish trades that are declined could be viewed by the league because some offers i receive are so lopsided and yet i take these types of trades and get ridiculed about my own thought process. setherick i understand where your coming at no ill will at all but i dont make blind trades like i did in earlier seasons.

He's worse at RB where he'll drop to 70 SP and have a hard time getting to the second left. At WR, he can at least operate in space where his route will carry him. So what you're telling me is that you paid two 1s and a 2 for 3.5 YPC RB.

eveyone keeps saying they lose speed and yet i have done this several times before and have not lost speed and even if he drops some i prefer him playing at both at RB1 and WR4 so yes plus i think **** average more tan 3.5 hes only ran the ball twice so call me crazy but im cool with how it turned out

He will lose SP. The math on SP is ~1 SP / 7# of body weight. It's not exact and sometimes a player with gain/lose 4 SP moving 21-22 pounds. But they will definite lose (or gain) SP because of weight.

But I don't understand this argument when you let this guy walk in FA who could have been as productive as the guy you traded for will be: https://paydirt.myfootballnow.com/player/6175

Trade is Rejected 2-1-0

Accept: 1
Reject: 2
Abstain: 0

Assets will be returned to their teams and this will not count towards the Trade Restriction.
Both GM's can rework the deal and resubmit.

From a learning experience, can we get the reasoning for it being rejected? I agree, I thought it was an overpay, but it wasn't a grossly negligent deal and both owners seemed happy with what they were losing and receiving

Feels like we need a stronger majority vote in order to veto a trade. Just my opinion

Maybe 5 person committee? To be honest this was a tough decision and can see both sides.
