Well, the Colts were 12th in offense and 11th in defense before that game lol. GG Salty, I need to reevaluate after this beat down. Bonilla was awful, one CB got burnt three times giving up two long TD's. At least I know what to fix, now is it possible to fix it?

1st Quarter AFC Review

The first quarter of a season is always the hardest in a new game version. It’s like a box of chocolates you never know what your going to get. Some recent trends in the league that I have noticed are that everybody is mad at their QB. QBs just are not good in this game version. Passing yards are down and interceptions are way up. There seem to be more knockdowns, drops and pass interference calls this season. It seems like nobody can find an offense. It also looks like sacks are way down, those DEs aren’t as effective as they have been. Both the Cowboys and Titans won their divisions last season, but both have dropped their 1st 4 games. The Bengals and Lions also won their divisions last season and they are sitting at 1-3. It seems as if everything has changed.

AFC West: Oakland has started out 4-0 this season riding a great defense. We will learn a lot about this team over the next 4 weeks as they play Cleveland and they play SD twice. San Diego is one team that has found a way to light up the scoreboard, but all against struggling teams. SD ran into GB in week 2 and got shut out. It will be interesting to see what they can do against Oakland twice and Cleveland over the next 4 weeks. It’s hard for me to tell exactly what Denver is at this point. Are they good are they average or are they bad? They lost to SD and OAK and they beat KC by 1 and beat an ownerless Buffalo team. KC has missed the playoffs 4 straight years and it’s not looking any better this year. KC better pick it up soon or they will be at home watching once again.

AFC East: This is Miami’s division to lose. They struggled offensively to start the season even losing to the Saints, then they dropped 46 on Tennessee. The Bills have started out 3-1 but they need a GM badly. They haven’t played any good teams yet and they have Miami twice and Tampa the next 3 weeks. The Pats acquired star QB Miguel Davis last season, but he has struggled to start this season throwing 3 TDs and 4 INTs with 626 yards through 4 weeks. A QB needs a running game to be successful but it’s not coming from veteran Clarence Davis 1.5 YPC. Someone needs to remind vcr5150 that Patrick Pomeroy is a RB and he has 2 other elite WRs.

AFC North: Cleveland is looking to reclaim the division after losing it the last 2 seasons. They are well on their way to doing just that as they remain undefeated through 4 weeks with 2 shutouts. Pittsburgh is right on pace to do what they have done every other season, go right about .500 and miss the playoffs. Despite having a pretty good team on paper Baltimore is still right on pace to do what they do. Baltimore has never had a winning season. The Bengals need to pick up the pace after stumbling out of the gate at 1-3. They should compete for the division, but their passing game isn’t working right now QB Carr has thrown just 3 TDs to 7 INTs. They need to give John Huff the ball because somehow, he is averaging 8 YPC on 33 Carries and has 19 catches for 160 yards.

AFC South: Houston is looking good this season. Whatever they are doing they need to keep doing it. Houston has never made the playoffs and they have a very easy schedule this season. The Jags sit at 3-1 with 3 home wins their loss was 33-0 at Cleveland. They will play the next 4 weeks on the road including back to back games against Miami and Seattle. Indianapolis is just looking to improve upon last season’s 3-win performance. They haven’t proven that they can compete yet with wins against SF and BAL. Welcome Titans to being a division champion. Now you get to play the other division winners. It’s been a tough 4 weeks against JAX, SEA, SD, and Miami. The schedule looks much easier going forward but next week against Houston could be huge.

Good Game Saints, was pretty nervous when you started out of the gate up 10-0. Luckily the defense was able to come around and the offense woke up! Good Luck until week 13!

GG meatman. Always feels like we earned it when we can beat an AFC West team.

**** of a game Ghost,

We won another FG kicking competition 4-3,the key one being a 52 yarder as the clock ran out to sent us to O/T.

Is this some kinda record 21 punts in a game ?

gg Bucs, going against one of the best offenses/defenses in MFN, I am happy with the performance overall. I finished 1-3 after the first 4, actually expected 0-4, so I am a game better than anticipated, hopefully going forward my youth on offense starts developing at a quicker pace, at least that was my thoughts starting out the season.

1st Quarter NFC review

There are the mainstays Seattle, Green Bay, and Tampa. There are some surprises Washington and the Giants, some crash and burns Lions and Cowboys. The story of the NFC thus far.

West
The Giants and Redskins have both jumped out of the gates and are sealed at the top of the division, both in playoff positions at the quarter mark. The Giants who under Beercloud’s leadership started showing improvement at end of the 77 season. All the Giants games have been close affairs, but there should be concerns. The biggest is, they don’t show the numbers on either side of the ball to continue the current pace. Washington has a top ten offense and lead the NFC in points scored, but also give up points. Although both are current playoff contenders, they are fragile. Philadelphia has a decent offense, but their defense leaves much to be desired. There is room for improvement on both sides of the ball. Dallas being 0-4 could be the biggest surprise in Paydirt. Last season’s division champ is crashing hard and time will tell if they can fix their issues.

East
Seattle has started out 4-0 and are in a commanding position unless there is a total collapse. The rank in the top ten in defense and offense. The opponents they have played have a combined record of 3-13, but until Seattle is beat in the NFC, they are still the champions. The Cardinals and the Rams, both having significant offensive issues have struggled and are probably at best wild card teams right now. The Rams have a good defense, but the first week loss to the Cards could pose an issue down the line. The Cards are having issues on both sides of the ball. The 49ers right now will have the 1st pick in the 1979 draft, they are headed in the direction of posting their 3rd losing season in row and apparently have no direction or leadership.

North
The Packers are the team that could unseat the Seahawks as the NFC champ with their 4-0 start. They have a stable franchise while ranking in the top ten in offense and defense. In many divisions a 2-game lead is not much, but if a team must beat the Packers it is huge. The upcoming Vikings is the only team that is making a statement in the North. They have a decent offense and defense but will need to improve both to continue their rise. The only team that has crashed harder than the Cowboys are the Lions, after winning the division last season they are 1-3. The resemble the same issues that the Rams have a good defense (ranked in the top 10) and offensive struggles, there is still time. The Bears have talent but are still struggling to find their identity.

South
Tampa…Tampa…. Tampa, they have a top ten rated offense and defense in Paydirt ranking #2 in both. They have won the division two years running and show no signs of slowing down. They have become the mainstay at the top of the South and there is no reason they shouldn’t remain there. Atlanta and Carolina could both have a say as both boast very good defenses with Atlanta #1 in the Paydirt. Their offense is suspect though and needs to improve. Carolina is currently the probable #2 at least by the numbers, but both teams are tough. New Orleans is alive, but they have issues on both sides of the ball that need improvement.

Suprising game for us jgc/Chargers, looks like the Pack D has taken a liking to 4.5, Shutting out an offense that racked up 50 in the previous game is a shock. Will see if it was a fluke or not, BoL the rest of the season, hope we get to have a rematch this season, right? cheers

Sorry for the delay in replying, Grandad. RL has kept my participation this season to an all-time low.

Great defense (I think). At least I was averaging 26 its per game after the shutout. ;-)

Anyway, GL the rest of the way.
